D. Install the Housing

Install the old (or a new) ram air system screen to the inlet housing (AMM 21-51-15/401).

Use the cloth to clean the flexible sleeves, clamps, and duct surfaces.

Do a visual inspection of the seal that is located between the air cycle machine and the Inlet Housing.
(a) If the seal is damaged, then replace it per the instructions in the vendor component maintenance manual (CMM 21-51-04).
NOTE: The seal can appear to be flat when the Inlet Housing
____ is removed from the air cycle machine. The seal will typically return to its usual shape in a short time.
(b) If the seal is not properly bonded to the Inlet Housing, then repair it per the instructions in the vendor component maintenance manual (CMM 21-51-04).

Put the flexible sleeves on the duct ends.

Put the housing in its position between the air cycle machine and the ram-air exhaust duct.
NOTE: Make sure you do not cause damage to the bonded seal when

you install the housing.

(6) Install the clamp between the housing and the air cycle machine.
(a)
Tighten each clamp nut to approximately 35 pound-inches
(4.0 newton-meters).
(b)
Make sure the clamp is installed correctly on the joint flanges.
(c)
Tighten each clamp nut to 42 - 48 pound-inches
(4.75 - 5.42 newton-meters) .

(7) Connect the housing to the heat exchanger.
(a)
Move the flexible duct until it is on each side of the duct joint.
(b)
Install, but do not tighten, the clamp on the duct joint.
(c)
Connect the support rods to the clamp.

Install the bolts, washers, and nuts to hold the support rods to the clamp.
(e)
Tighten each clamp nut to 40 - 50 pound-inches
(4.52 - 5.64 newton-meters).
NOTE: Make sure the clamp is installed correctly on the

duct joint.

(8) Connect the housing to the ram-air duct.
(a)
Move the flexible duct until it is on each side of the duct joint.
(b)
Install, but do not tighten, the clamp on the duct joint.
(c)
Connect the support rods to the clamp.
