R  CAUTION : MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE IDG CORRECTLY. IF NOT YOU CAN CAUSE_______ 
R  DAMAGE TO MATING PARTS. 
R  CAUTION : IF YOU REPLACE THE IDG "NEW EPGS" WITH AN IDG P/N 740119, YOU_______ 
R  MUST REPLACE THE QAD P/N 772896 WITH QAD P/N 740123. 
R  (1) Remove the protective cover from the IDG interface side of the 
R  gearbox. 
R  (2) Remove the IDG (1) from the plastic bag. 
R  (3) Install the O-ring (42) in the groove on the IDG splined shaft. 
R  (4) Install the O-ring (44) in the groove on the IDG (1) pilot diameter. 
R  (5) Put the IDG (1) on a HOIST - ACCESSORY, IDG R/I FOR CFM56-5 (TMHSD10-
R  20-00) or HOIST - ACCESSORY, IDG R/I FOR CFM56-5 (S387IDG). 
R  (6) Use the hoisting mechanism to have the IDG level with the mounting 
R  pad support. 
R  Make sure that none of the weight is on the input shaft. 
R  (7) Turn the QAD tension bolt (43) to open the QAD ring (46). Align the 
R  mark on the QAD ring with the mark on the QAD engine-adapter plate. 
R  (8) Engage the lugs on the IDG in the openings in the QAD ring. To do 
R  this, align the " open-position " mark on the QAD with the opposite 
R  mark on the IDG. 
R  (9) TORQUE the QAD tension bolt to between 265 and 305 lbf.in (2.99 and 
R  3.44 m.daN).

R  (10) Lightly hit the outer edge of the QAD adapter with a softface hammer. 
R R  (11) Do a check of the tension bolt torque. The torque value must not decrease more than 24 lbf.in (0.27 m.daN). 
R R  (12) Do again the procedure until the torque on the tension bolt is between 265 and 305 lbf.in (2.99 and 3.44 m.daN). 
R R R R R R  (13) Check the distance between the ring lug and bracket of the QAD ring and bracket. If the distance is less than 0.56 in. (14.2239 mm) minimum, (Ref. Fig. 406/TASK 24-21-51-991-303) remove and replace the IDG (Ref. TASK 24-21-51-000-040) and the QAD adapter (Ref. TASK 24-21-41-000-040). 
R R  (14) Safety the tension bolt with Lockwire CRS 0.032in. (0.8mm) dia (Material No. CP8002) (45). 
R R  (15) Remove the HOIST - ACCESSORY, IDG R/I FOR CFM56-5 (S387IDG) or HOIST-ACCESSORY, IDG R/I FOR CFM56-5 (TMHSD10-20-00).

 C. Removal of the IDG Terminal Block Cover
 (1) Remove the screws (28), the washers (29) and the terminal block cover (27).
 NOTE : Optional configuration, for easier access to the screws,____ operators can turn the IDG terminal block cover. Remove the screws (28(A)), the washers (29(A)) and the terminal block cover (27(A)).
 (2) Remove the terminal nut (30) and the washer (31), or the terminal nut with captive washer (32).

 D. Removal of the Protections
 (1)
 If necessary, remove the shipping plugs (19) and (18) from the oil-in and oil-out bosses, and retain for subsequent use.

 Remove the protective covers from the oil-in (13) and oil-out (12) lines.

 E. Installation of the Unions
 (1)
 Install the new packing (17) on the union (16) and the new packing

 (15) on the union (14).

 (2)
 Install the union (16) and TORQUE it to between 35.8 and 37.9 lbf.ft

 (4.85 and 5.13 m.daN).

 (3)
 Install the union (14) and TORQUE it to between 33.3 and 35.4 lbf.ft

 (4.51 and 4.79 m.daN). Subtask 24-21-51-420-073
 F. Installation of the Oil-in and Oil-out lines
 CAUTION : USE TWO WRENCHES TO HOLD THE FITTINGS WHEN YOU TORQUE THE

_______ OIL-IN AND OIL-OUT LINES. IF NOT YOU CAN TRANSMIT TOO MUCH TORQUE TO THE IDG FITTINGS AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IDG BOSSES.
 (1)
 Connect the oil lines (12) and (13) on their unions.

 (2)
 Use the two wrench procedure to hold and TORQUE the oil-in line (13) to between 75 and 83.3 lbf.ft (10.16 and 11.29 m.daN).

 (3)
 Use the two wrench procedure to hold and TORQUE the oil-out line (12) to between 52.5 and 58.3 lbf.ft (7.11 and 7.90 m.daN).

 Subtask 24-21-51-020-074
 G. Removal of the Pressure Fill Plug and Overflow Drain Plug
 (1)
 If necessary, cut and remove the lockwire from the pressure fill-plug (11).

 (2)
 Remove the pressure fill-plug (11) with the packing (10) from the lower pressure fill-boss, and retain for subsequent use.
