Remove the nut that attaches the bottom of the aft cable guard

 (23)
 to the support plate (25).

 (c)  
Remove the cotter pin and nut (27) that attaches the support plate (25) to the cable drum (24).

 (d)  
Remove the four forward cable guards (26) and the support plate (25).

 NOTE: Make sure you retain the washer (28) that is
____ located between the cable drum (24) and the support plate (25).
 (e)  Remove the aft cable guard (23).

Install the hoist adapter on the jackscrew gearbox.

Install the jackscrew (2) with the ball nut (1) and the gearbox (8):

 (a)  
Lift the jackscrew (2) with the ball nut (1) and the gearbox (8) into the airplane. 1) Install the jackscrew (2) through the jackscrew fitting

 (3).

 (b)  
Align the jackscrew gearbox (8) with the lower gimbal.

 (c)  
Install the lower gimbal pins (13): 1) Install the pin (13) with the grease fitting outboard. 2) Install the washer and nut on the pin (13). 3) Install the cotter pin.

Install the safety straps (14):

 (a)  
Set the strap (14) to engage the pin (13) on the jackscrew gearbox (8).

 (b)  
Install each strap with two bolts with the bolt heads outboard.

 (c)  
Install a washer and a locknut on each bolt.

 (6)  
Connect the jackscrew (2) to the stabilizer:

 (a)  
Remove the bolts and pull the upper gimbal pins (20) from the upper gimbal (5).

 (b)  
Disassemble the gimbal fittings (21) and the yokes (22) from the ball nut (1).

 (c)  
Lubricate the yoke bushings and the mating surfaces between the yoke and the gimbal fittings with grease.

 (d)  
Install the yokes (22) on the ball nut (1).

 (e)  
Engage the gimbal fittings (21) on the yokes (22).

 (f)  
Turn the jackscrew to engage the gimbal fittings (21) with the jackscrew fitting (3).

 (g)  
Install the upper gimbal pins (20) to connect the jackscrew to the stabilizer.

 (h)  
Install the gimbal pins (20) to the gimbal fittings (21). 1) Install the bolts with washers.

 (i)  Install a lockwire to attach the two bolt heads together on each upper gimbal pin.

 (7)  Install the safety bolts (4) in the jackscrew fitting (3):
 WARNING:_______DO NOT GET THE PRIMER IN YOUR EYES OR ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE PRIMER AND USE ONLY IN THE AREA THAT HAS A GOOD FLOW OF AIR. PRIMER IS POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE AND CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (a)  
Apply primer to all areas of the safety bolt hole.

 (b)  
Install the safety bolt washer below the bolt head.

 (c)  
Install the bolt with the washer and the nut.

 (d)  
Tighten the nut by hand, then loosen the nut to the nearest cotter pin hole.
