Hoist - capable of lifting 700 pounds to 20 foot height

 (4)  S 864-004Use the stabilizer trim wheel on the control stand to set the horizontal stabilizer to zero degrees (3 units of trim).
 (5)  S 494-008Install the trim lock assembly on the stabilizer trim wheel (Fig. 401):

Turn the trim wheel to put the handle at the top of the wheel.

 (b)  
Adjust the height of the trim lock to set the trim wheel handle tightly in the bottom of the yoke.

 (c)  
Install the pin through the yoke and install the safety pin.

Remove the access panels 3801, 3802, and the access plate of the pushrod bolt in the tail cone.

Remove the gap covers of the front and rear spar of the stabilizer outboard section.

 NOTE: The gap cover of the rear spar makes the aft

Remove the upper and lower bracket assemblies.

 Remove the inspar No. 5 bracket assembly (Fig. 402).

 Disengage the forward stabilizer-to-body sliding seal (Fig. 402), at the stabilizer front spar:

 (a)  
Disconnect the pin at the link-to-pedestal assembly (four locations).

 (b)  
Move the upper and lower seal plates to their farthest positions.

Remove the Horizontal Stabilizer

 (1)  Disconnect the elevator control pushrod from the elevator
