 (5)  S 494-006Install the stabilizer trim lock.
 (6)  S 014-007Open the access door 3701.
 (7)  S 014-008Remove the access panel 9105 or 9205 and the end side door.
 (8)  S 014-009Remove the lower rear spar and the gap covers to get access to the hinge.
 (9)  S 864-010Hold the stabilizer structure and the center section assembly in the area of the hinge components. (a) Make sure all the components align correctly during the removal.

 Remove the hinge housing fitting of the center section hinge (Fig. 402):

 (a)  
Remove the cotter pins, the nut (7), and the washer (8).

 (b)  
Remove the nut (6) and the bushing spacer (5).

 (c)  
Remove the bushing retainer (10).

 (d)  
Install the washer (8) and the nut (7).

 (e)  
Use the punch set and push out the parts as follows: 1) Hinge pin (1) 2) Bushing retainer (13) 3) Hinge pin (2)

 (f)  
Remove the two hinge bushings (9 and 12).

 (g)  
If a bushing spacer (3) is used, it will come off with the adjustable hinge bushing (12) when you remove the hinge bearing on the right side.

 (h)  
Remove the two bolts to remove the upper thrust brace (15).

 NOTE: Make marks on the upper thrust brace to help make
____ the installation easier.
 (i)  Remove the two bolts to remove the lower thrust brace (14).
 NOTE: Make marks on the lower thrust brace to help make
____ the installation easier.
 (j)  Remove three bolts to remove the thrust brace attach fitting (16) and the filler

 (k)  Remove the three bolts to remove the fail-safe links (17 and 19) and the shims.
 NOTE: Make marks on the fail-safe links to help make the
____ installation easier, and write the thickness and the location of the shims.

Remove six fasteners to remove the upper channel spacer and the upper plate spacer (22 and 21) together as an assembly.

 (m)  
Remove six fasteners to remove the lower channel spacer and the lower plate spacer (24 and 23) together as an assembly.

 (n)  
Remove the two bolts (25) to remove the hinge housing fitting (18).

 (1)  
Install the hinge housing fitting (18):

 (a)  
Set the hinge housing fitting (18) in its position. 1) Install the two bolts (25).
