 (d) (e) (f) (g) (h) (i)  Install the lower thrust brace (14) with two bolts.Install the upper thrust brace (15) with two bolts.Do a check of the dimension between the hinge housing fitting (18) and the bulkhead support structure (11): 1) Attach an L-angle shape to the forward side of the bulkhead flange to use as a reference plane. 2) Mount the dial indicator. 3) Write the dimension between the hinge housing fitting (18) and the bulkhead support structure (11).Install the bushing (12): 1) Lubricate the bushing (12) on all sides with grease. 2) For the right hinge: Install the bushing spacer (3) and the bushing (12). 3) For the left hinge: Install the bushing (12). 4) Tighten the bushing (12) by hand until it touches the mating surface of the bearing (4). 5) Use a dial indication depth gage to do a check of the dimension between the hinge housing fitting (18) and the bulkhead support structure (11). a) Make sure this dimension is the same as you measured before you installed the bushing (12). b) If it is necessary, disassemble and adjust the hinge bushing (12) to get the correct dimension.Install the hinge bushing (9). 1) Lubricate the hinge bushing (9) on all sides with grease. 2) Install the hinge bushing (9).Install the hinge pin (2): 1) Lubricate the hinge pin (2) and the thread protector with
 (j)  grease. 2) Use the horizontal stabilizer thread protector to install the hinge pin (2).Install the bushing spacer (5) and the nut (6). 1) Tighten the nut (6) by hand.

Install the bushing retainer (10).

 (l)  
Install the bushing retainer (13) on the hinge bushing (12).

 1)  Turn the hinge bushing (12) from the initial adjustment to align the bushing head with the notches of the retainer (13).
 CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TORQUE TO THE WRENCH FLATS ON THE HINGE PIN.

 YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

 (m)  
Temporarily remove the bushing retainer (13).

 (n)  
Tighten the nut (6) to 300-600 pound-inches.

 (o)  
If the cotter pin holes do not align, tighten or loosen the nut (6) as it is necessary to align the nearest cotter pin hole.

 (2)  
Use a dial indication depth gage to do a check of the dimension between the hinge housing fitting (18) and the bulkhead support structure (11).

 (a)  
Make sure the dimension is the same as you measured before and after you installed the bushing (12) in |0.005 inch.

Do a check of the clearance between the bulkhead support structure (11) and the hinge bushing (9):

 (a)  
Remove the bushing retainer (10).

 (b)  
Do a check of the clearance between the bulkhead support structure (11) and the hinge bushing (9).

 (c)  
Make sure the clearance is 0.12 +0.07/-0.08 inch.

 (d)  
Install the bushing retainer (10).

 (4)  
Install the bushing retainer (13) with the hinge insert pin (1).

 (a)  
Turn the hinge insert pin (1) until you align the cotter pin holes.

 CAUTION:_______DO NOT APPLY TORQUE TO THE WRENCH FLATS ON THE HINGE PIN. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 (5)  
Install the washer (8) and the nut (7).

 (a)  
Tighten the nut (7) to a maximum of 50 pound-inches.

 (b)  
If the cotter pin hole of the nut (7) does not align, loosen or tighten the nut (7) as it is necessary to align the nearest cotter pin hole of the nut (6).

 (c)  
Install the cotter pins in the nuts (6 and 7).
