Align the flanges of the support fittings (14 and 17) with the mating holes in the hinge support frame.

Install the support fitting:
(a)
Apply a thin layer of grease (BMS 3-33 or MIL-G-23827) to the bolts, washers and nuts.
(b)
Install the bolts, the washers and the nuts by hands.
(c)
AIRPLANES WITH THE LOCKCLIP (13); Make sure you install the lockclip (13) when you install the middle two bolts in the inboard hinge support.
(d)
Make sure that the forward edge of the clip engages with the flat surfaces of the retaining nut (5).
(e)
Tighten the inboard hinge nut (5) equally and to the torque values shown on Fig. 203.
(f)
Install the bolts, washers and nuts which attach the hinge support fittings to the secondary hinge supports. 1) Tighten the nuts to the torque values (Fig. 203).

Install the Stabilizer Hinge Pivot Pin

Install the pivot pins (7 and 8):
(a)
Apply grease (BMS 3-33 or MIL-G-23827) to the threads and the bearing surfaces of the adjustment screw (6) and the bearing surfaces of the spacer (19).

(b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) (h) Install the adjustment screw (6) in the support fitting of the inboard hinge (14). 1) Tighten the adjustment screw (6) by hand.Install the spacer (19) in the support fitting of the outboard hinge.Apply grease to the inner pivot pin (8) and the bearing surface of the outer pivot pin (7).Install the inner pivot pin (8) through the outer pivot pin (7).Align the support fittings (14 and 17) with the stabilizer hinge bearing (15).Install the pivot pins (7 and 8) with the bolt heads inboard. 1) Make sure you align the slots in the pivot pin heads for the subsequent installation of the antirotation plate (12).Install the outer nut (22). 1) Tighten the outer nut (22) by hand. 2) Keep the nut (22) and the adjustment screw (6) loose to move the stabilizer laterally.
