Install the Elevator Forward Quadrant

Install the upper bearing housing (19) and the upper bearing (18) to the upper end of jackshaft (7).

Install the upper bearing retainer (4) and the capscrews (5):
(a)
Tighten the capscrews (5).
(b)
Install the lockwire on the capscrews (5).

Install the elevator forward quadrant:
(a)
Install the bolts (6) that connect the upper bearing housing (19) to the upper support beam (21).
(b)
Install the bolt retainers (20) to the bolts (6).
(c)
Install the bolts (15) to attach the lower bearing housing (10) to the lower support beam (14).
(d)
Install the lower bearing (11) and the lower bearing retainer (13).
(e)
Install the capscrews (12) on the lower bearing retainer (13).
(f)
Install the lockwire on the capscrews (12).
(g)
Connect the pushrod (16) to the crank (9).
(h)
Install the clevis bolt (17) by hand.
(i)
Apply a thin layer of grease on the clevis bolt (17).
(j)
Install the nut and two washers (install one washer below the bolt (17) and one below the nut).

Adjust the Body Cables

(1)
For the left forward quadrant; Adjust the turnbuckles to apply tension equally to cables E1A and E1B:
(a)
Make sure the tensions applied to cables E1A and E1B are in the tolerances shown in graph I, Fig. 402.
(b)
Make sure the cables are in a straight line through the pressure bulkhead.
(c)
While you tighten the cables, adjust the pressure seals in the pressure bulkhead if it is necessary to keep the cables straight.
(d)
Make sure the rig pins E-1 and E-2 can be removed by hand after you tighten the cables.

(2) For the right forward quadrant; Adjust the turnbuckles to apply tension to cables E2A and E2B:
NOTE: Steps (a) thru (c) are necessary only if you installed the

new cables.
(a)
Adjust the turnbuckles equally to apply a tension of 300 |20 pounds to cables E2A and E2B.
(b)
Remove the rig pins E-1 and E-2.
(c)
Move the control column forward and then aft 25 times. 1) Make sure the elevator forward quadrant moves freely
(d)
Make sure the tensions applied to cables E2A and E2B are in the tolerances shown in graph II, Fig. 402.
(3)
Remove the rig pins E-1 and E-2.
(4)
Install the locking clips on all body cable turnbuckles.

Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound to the open areas of the threads of the turnbuckles.
