 (7)  S 494-008Install rig pin R-4 into the input crank of the rudder feel and centering mechanism.
 (8)  S 034-009Disconnect these electrical connectors from the applicable position transmitter: (a) DT490 Upper Rudder Transmitter (b) DT491 Lower Rudder Transmitter
 (9)  S 034-010Disconnect the bonding jumper from the transmitter.

 Remove the transmitter assembly:

 (a)  
Remove the nut, washer, and screw that attach the control rod to the crank.

 (b)  
Remove two screws, washers, and nuts that attach the bracket to the airplane structure.

 (c)  
Remove the transmitter, the bracket, and the crank assembly from the airplane.

 Disassemble the transmitter assembly:

 (a)  
Remove the crank from the transmitter shaft. 1) Remove the shaft clamping screw from the crank. 2) Remove the crank.

Remove the transmitter from the bracket. 1) Loosen the transmitter clamping screws. 2) Remove the inner clamping screw. 3) Remove the transmitter.

Install the Rudder Position Transmitter

Assemble the transmitter assembly:

 (a)  
Put the transmitter into the bracket until the inner clamping screw can engage the circumferential groove on the transmitter. 1) Install the transmitter clamping screws.

 a) Do not tighten the screw.

 (b)  
Turn the transmitter until E|Z (electrical zero) index mark on transmitter housing is aligned with the centerline of the bracket rig pin holes.

 (c)  
Lightly tighten the transmitter clamping screws.

 (d)  
Put the transmitter shaft into the crank until the shaft clamping screw can engage circumferential groove on the shaft.

Install the shaft clamping screw, washer, and nut. 1) Do not tighten the nut.

 (f)  
Align the index mark on the end of the shaft with the centerline of the rig pin slot in the crank.

Tighten the shaft clamping screw to 5-10 pound-inches.

Set the transmitter, the bracket, and the crank assembly on the airplane. 1) Install two screws, washers, and nuts that attach the

 bracket to the airplane structure a) Tighten the nuts to 20-30 pound-inches.
 2)  Install the screw, washer, and nut to attach the control rod to the crank. a) Tighten the nut to 5-10 pound-inches.
