If the distance is less than 0.65 inch, adjust the adjustment sleeve (which is referred to as the "fine adjustment"): 1) Loosen the checknuts (5 and 7) on the adjustable rod end
that connected to the PCP summing lever. 2) Turn the adjustment sleeve (6) until the elevator is in the
limits of the tolerance in Fig. 203. 3) Tighten the two checknuts (5 and 7). 4) Make sure that the inboard elevator align with the outboard
elevator.
(b) If the distance is more than 0.65 inch, adjust the length of the input rod: 1) Set all FLT CONTROL HYD POWER TAIL switches on the P461,
Pilots' Overhead Maintenance Panel in SHUTOFF.
2) Open these circuit breakers on the P180 DC Power Distribution Panel and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags: a) 180E7, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 2 b) 180E22, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 4 c) 180H8, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 1 d) 180H23, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 3
3) Remove the bolt (2) that connect the input rod (1) with the
PCP summing lever. 4) Loosen the checknuts (5 and 7) if it is necessary. 5) Turn the clevis or the clevis and the sleeve together to
get nearest possible adjustment.
NOTE: One half turn of the clevis gives 0.24 inch of
____ the movement on the elevator surface. One half turn of the clevis and the sleeve together gives 0.30 inch of the movement.
6) Align the clevis with the PCP summing lever. 7) Install the bolt (1), washer (2), and nut (3), with the bolt head outboard.
8) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers on the P180, DC Power Distribution Panel: a) 180E7, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 2 b) 180E22, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 4 c) 180H8, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 1 d) 180H23, ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 3
9) Set the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER TAIL switches on the P461,
Pilots' Overhead Maintenance Panel in NORM. 10) Do the fine adjustment if it is necessary. 11) Tighten the checknuts (5 and 7).
