POSITION INITIALIZATION
The alignment phase is completed, when the ADIRS is initialized to an appropriate position. If
the GPS is available, initialization is automatic, using the GPS position. Pilot intervention is not
necessary. However, automatic initialization may be manually overriden by pilot entry, at any
moment during the alignment phase. In this case, perform the following procedure as soon as
possible, to prevent delays, if an alignment error occurs :
MCDU coordinates.................................................................................................. CHECK/MODIFY
When the pilot enters or modifies the origin airport (FROM) or the CO RTE, the MCDU INIT
coordinates are reset to the airport reference point (extracted from the FMS database). The pilot
may also manually modify these coordinates.
If the MCDU INIT coordinates change, when the ADIRS are already in NAV mode, the RESET IRS
TO NAV message is triggered on the MCDU : Crosscheck the MCDU INIT coordinates against the
IRS position on the MCDU POSITION MONITOR page.

ADIRS to the airport reference point extracted from the FMS database. This reduces the risk of

information to detect coarse initialization errors.
If any of the 3 ADIRS indicates an alignment error, the prompt REALIGN IRS reappears on the
INIT page (instead of ALIGN IRS).
�� If the IR FAULT light flashes, the affected ADIRS can only be used in ATT mode.

AUTOMATIC DEPENDENT SURVEILLANCE - BROADCAST (ADS-B)

ADS-B OUT
When the Air Traffic Controller requests to stop transmitting ADS-B OUT surveillance data or
altitude (e.g. when she/he requests “STOP ADS-B TRANSMISSION” or “STOP ADS-B ALTITUDE
TRANSMISSION”), do not switch off the ATC transponder or the altitude reporting, in order to
maintain TCAS operations or Air Traffic Control radar surveillance and refer to Aeronautical
Information Publication (AIP) for alternate procedure.
