R 1_ Loosely assemble the front fairing (20) to the cover plate
R (22) with the bolt (24), the washer (23) and the bush (18).
R 2_ Loosely assemble the cover plate (22) complete with the front
R fairing (20) to the wing surface with the bolts (21).
R 3_ Make sure that the front fairing (20) aligns with the
R intermediate fairing (17).
R 4_ Use a wax crayon to mark on the cover plate (22) around the
R edge of the front fairing (20).
R 5_ Remove the bolts (21) and remove the cover plate (22),
R complete with the front fairing (20).
R 6_ Remove the bolt (24), the washer (23) and the bush (18).
R Remove the front fairing (20) from the cover plate (22).
R 7_ Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-064) to the mating
R surface of the front fairing (20). Do not apply the special
R material to the surface of the front fairing that will touch
R the wing skin.
R 8_ Apply a small quantity of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-018) to
R the mating surfaces of the front fairing (20) and the cover
R plate (22). Do not apply sealant to the surface of the front
R fairing that will touch the wing skin.
R 9_ Install the front fairing (20) onto the cover plate (22) with
R the bolt (24), the washer (23) and the bush (18). Make sure
R that the front fairing (20) aligns with the marks you made on
R the cover plate (22).
R 10__ TORQUE tighten the bolt (24) to between 0.08 and 0.10 m.daN
(7.07 and 8.84 lbf.in).
R NOTE : Do the step that follows before the sealant has cured.____
R 11__ Use the sealant pushed out from between the front fairing (20)
R and the cover plate (22) to make a fillet seal. Clean the
R unwanted sealant from the front fairing and the cover plate
R assembly to make a smooth finish. Make sure that the sealant
R does not cause a blockage in the drain hole (19).

R R (c) Hold the front fairing (20) and the cover plate (22) assembly in position against the lower wing skin.
R R NOTE : Make sure that the harness (25) does not rub against the____ edges of the cover plate (22).
R R R R (d) Make sure that there is a clearance of 0.5 mm (0.0196 in.) to 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) between the intermediate fairing (17) and the front fairing (20). If necessary, cut and de-burr the overlap at the rear of the front fairing (20) to get the correct dimension.
R (e) Install the assembly with the bolts (21).
R (f) TORQUE tighten the bolts (21) to 1.13 m.daN (99.99 lbf.in).
R R (5) Make sure that the guide (30), the bracket (34) and the clamp (33) are positioned correctly. TORQUE the nuts (31) on the bolts (32) to between 0.14 and 0.16 m.daN (12.38 and 14.15 lbf.in).

B. Installation of the Inboard Fuel Pump Fairing
NOTE : Install the inboard fuel pump fairing in this sequence:____ - the intermediate fairing (5) - the rear fairing (4) - the front fairing (8) and the cover plate (10) assembly.
NOTE : Sealant is not used between the fairings (8), (5) and (4) and the____ lower wing skin.
(1) Before you install the fairings, make sure that the length of the harness (25) is correct. Measure the distance between the front face of the connector (36) and the forward edge of the guide (30). The correct length of the inboard harness should be 1320 mm (51.9685 in.).
(2) If necessary, adjust the length of the harness (25) as follows:
(a) Loosen the nuts (31), the bolts (32) and the clamp (33) on the bracket (34) and the guide (30).

Carefully move the harness (25) through the guide (30), the clamp
(33)
and the conduit (35) to get the correct length.
