Get access through the air inlet duct and make sure that the front flange of the diffuser (20) is in the center of the air inlet duct.

Examine the inside edges of the difuser (20) to make sure that the max. allowed step between the diffuser (20) and the air inlet duct is horizontally 0.3 -0 +0.4 mm (0.0118 -0.0000 +0.0157 in.) and laterally 0.35 -0 +0.55 mm (0.0137 -0.0000 +0.0216 in.). If not satisfactory adjust as follows:
(a)
Open the APU access door 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(b)
Remove the castle nut (12), the washer (10) and the bolt (15).
(c)
Lift the diffuser (20) and elbow assembly (26). Remove and discard the safety wire and loosen the nut (13).
(d)
Adjust the eye-bolt (14) in half-turns until you get the correct length. (One half-turn equals 0.45 mm (0.0177 in.)). The adjustment range is between the marking grooves.
NOTE : If a half-turn is too much, screw the eye-bolt (24) out

rather than into the door.
(e) Align the eye-bolt (14) and tighten the nut (13).

Make sure that the distance between the air inlet duct and the diffuser flange measures 3.0 -1.0 +0 mm (0.1181 -0.0393 +0.0000 in.) around the circumference. If not satisfactory, adjust as follows:

Align the diffuser (20) and elbow assembly (26) longitudinally and
laterally with the fitting (27).

(a) Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-002) to the mating surface of the tooth plates (29) and seal them with SEALANTS SEALANTS (Material No. 09-016) after installation.
(9) Apply LUBRICANT LUBRICANTS (Material No. 06-001) to the screws (28) and paint the connection with SPECIAL MATERIALS SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-005).

Align the diffuser (20) and elbow assembly (26) laterally with the fitting (32) if necessary.

(a) Apply SPECIAL MATERIAL SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-002) to the mating surface of the tooth plate (30) and to the screws (31). Seal the tooth plate with SEALANT SEALANTS (Material No. 09-016) after installation.
NOTE : The fittings (27 and 32) have a pitch of parallel toothing

of 0.75 mm (0.0295 in.).

Adjust the length of the tie-rod (22) by max 311.5 +10.0 -10.0 mm (12.2637 +0.3937 -0.3937 in.) if necessary.

Tighten and safety all the nuts.

Safety the castle nut (24) with a new cotter pin (25).
(15)
Safety the castle nut (12) with a new cotter pin (11)
(16)
Connect the drain hoses (16) to the drain lines.

Connect the bonding strap (17) with the screw (19) and the washer
(18) (Ref. TASK 20-28-00-912-002).

Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-027) around all the screwheads.

C. Adjustment
(1)
Close the access door 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(2)
When the APU access door 316AR is closed, the seal (1) is compressed. There must be a clearance K of 18.0 +3.0 -3.0 mm (0.7086 +0.1181 -0.1181 in.) between the APU plenum (33) and the elbow assembly (26) flanges. If the gap is incorrect, adjust the diffuser (20) assembly.

Open the APU access door 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
