 Remove the diffuser (20) and elbow assembly (26).

 (c)
 Open the lockwasher (6) and loosen the nut (7).

 (d)
 Remove the eye-bolt (8) and discard the lock-washer (6).

 (e)
 Install a new lockwasher (6) and install the eye-bolt (8).

 (f)
 Adjust the eye-bolt (8) in half-turns until you get the correct length. (One half-turn equals 0.45 mm (0.0177 in.). The adjustment range is between the marking grooves.

 (g)
 Align the eye-bolt (8) and tighten the nut (7).

 (h)
 Install the diffuser (20) and elbow assembly (26).

 (i)
 Safety the nut (7) with the lockwasher (6).

 (j)
 Close the APU access door 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001).

 (3)
 When the APU access door 316AR is closed, there must be a clearance L of 8.0 +4.0 -4.0 mm (0.3149 +0.1574 -0.1574 in.) between the APU plenum (33) and the elbow assembly (26) outer flanges. Clearance L must be measured at all positions on the four sides of the flanges. If the clearance is incorrect, adjust the diffuser assembly (20) as follows:

 NOTE : The fittings (27) and (32) have adjustment serrations with a

 pitch of 0.75 mm (0.0295 in.)

 (a)
 Open the APU access door 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).

 (b)
 Align the diffuser (20) and elbow assembly (26) longitudinally with the fitting (27).

 (c)
 Align the diffuser (20) and the elbow assembly (26) laterally with the fitting (32).

 (d)
 Protective Treatment WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER

 (e)
 Seal the tooth plates with SEALANTS (Material No. 09-016) after installation.

 (f)
 Apply LUBRICANTS (Material No. 06-001) to the screws (28) and paint the joints with SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-005).

 (g)
 Close the APU access door 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-410-001).

 SPECIAL MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR.
 OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS.
 PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING.
 DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH.
 DO NOT SMOKE.
 DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS.
 THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN
 IRRITANT.
 GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
 1_ Apply the SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-002) to the
 mating surface of the tooth plates (29), (30) and the screws
 (31).

 (4)
 Get access through the air inlet duct and make sure that the front flange of the diffuser (20) is in the center of the air inlet duct.

 (5)
 Examine the inside edges of the difuser (20) to make sure that the max. allowed step between the diffuser (20) and the air inlet duct is horizontally 0.3 -0 +0.4 mm (0.0118 -0.0000 +0.0157 in.) and laterally 0.35 -0 +0.55 mm (0.0137 -0.0000 +0.0216 in.). If not satisfactory adjust as follows:

 (a)
 Open the APU access door 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).

 (b)
 Remove the castle nut (12), the washer (10) and the bolt (15).

 (c)
 Lift the diffuser (20) and elbow assembly (26). Remove and discard the safety wire and loosen the nut (13).

 (d)
 Adjust the eye-bolt (14) in half-turns until you get the correct length. (One half-turn equals 0.45 mm (0.0177 in.)). The adjustment range is between the marking grooves.

 NOTE : If a half-turn is too much, screw the eye-bolt (24) out

 rather than into the door.

 (e) Align the eye-bolt (14) and tighten the nut (13).
 (6)
 Make sure that the distance between the air inlet duct and the diffuser flange measures 3.0 -1.0 +0 mm (0.1181 -0.0393 +0.0000 in.) around the circumference. If not satisfactory, adjust as follows:

 (7)
 Align the diffuser (20) and elbow assembly (26) longitudinally and
 laterally with the fitting (27).

 (8)
