TERMINAL LUGS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General The other types of terminal lugs installed on aircraft have the following codes: ABS0231 Locking clip terminal ABS0374 Locking clip terminal with housing ABS0501 Faston terminal (fuel probe) ABS0589 Faston terminal (fuel sensors and probes) DAN387 Terminal with housing E0256 Clip terminal with housing

 (1) Temperature Minimum operating temperature is -55 deg.C (-67.00 deg.F) Maximum operating temperature is 120 deg.C (248.00 deg.F)
 C. Connection Procedure (Ref. Fig. 001)
 (1)
 Wire stripping Strip the wire to the length A with the applicable tool.

 (2)
 Crimping procedure

 -Push the terminal into the supporting device.
 -Engage the end on the cable into the crimping part of the terminal and hold it in this position.
 -Fully close the hand pliers (the pliers will not open again unless the crimping procedure is complete).

 (3)
 Insertion/Extraction procedure

 (a) Insertion These terminals are inserted manually.

 (b) Extraction
 -Push back the ring seal on the base until you can see the release aperture.
 -Release the terminal with the applicable tool.
 -Pull lightly on the cable to move the terminal away from its housing.
 -Put the ring seal in its correct position on the release aperture.

NOTE : You must replace the removed terminals with new crimped terminals.

 B. P/N Characteristics
 (1) Temperature Minimum operating temperature is -55 deg.C (-67.00 deg.F) Maximum operating temperature is 150 deg.C (302.00 deg.F)
 C. Connection Procedure
 (Ref. Fig. 002, 003)

 (1) Wire stripping
R  Slide the sleeves NSA937502-02 and NSA937201MR0600 on the wire. Strip the wire to the length A with the applicable tool.
 (2) Crimping procedure
 (Ref. Fig. 004, 005)

 -Put the terminal into the jaws of the pliers.
 -Engage the end of the cable into the crimping part of the terminal and hold it in this position (move the cable forward to the stop).
 -Fully close the hand pliers (the pliers will not open unless the
 crimping procedure is complete). R - Slide the heat shrinkable sleeve NSA937502-02 on the crimped R terminal area.
 -Shrink with the applicable tool.
 -Slide the sleeve NSA937201 on the terminal (do not shrink).
 (3) Insertion/Extraction of housing (ABS0374-B)
 (Ref. Fig. 006)

 (a) Insertion
 -Push the sleeve on the terminal until it locks in position.
 -Pull lightly on the cable rearward to make sure that it is in the correct position.

 (b) Extraction - Engage the AMP tool 724659-1 from the rear into the protection sleeve and push the two locking tongues up. - Then remove the cable terminal, and the tool, from the rear of the protection sleeve.
