(a) Attach a protractor, COM-1691 to the inboard edge of the leading edge flap 1 [2] or outboard
edge of the leading edge flap 2 [1].
(b) Set the protractor, COM-1691 to zero with the leading edge flaps retracted.
WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE
FLAPS AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE LEADING EDGE
FLAPS AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS
CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(c) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit detent to extend the leading edge flap.
(d) Make sure the full extend angle of the leading edge flap [1] or [2] is 98 +/- 0.5 degrees.
1) If the full extend angle is out of tolerance, do these steps to adjust the rod end [8] of the
flap actuator [7];
a) Remove the pin [15], nut [14], washer [13], bushing [12], washer [11], and bolt [10] to
disconnect the flap actuator [7] from the leading edge flap [1] or [2].
b) Loosen the nut [9] on the flap actuator [7].
c) Adjust the rod end [8] until you get the correct full extend angle.
NOTE: The limit for maximum adjustment is two full turns of the adjustment nut
[8].
(e) Remove the protractor, COM-1691 from the inboard edge of the leading edge flap.

(4) Make sure the mismatch between the inboard leading edge flap [1] and the outboard leading
edge flap [2] is 0 +/- 0.040 inch (1.0 millimeters).

(5) Apply preload at the flap bullnose to the leading edge flap [1] or [2].
(a) Make sure the flap bullnose touches the leading edge flap [1] or [2].
NOTE: To apply the correct preload, the flap bullnose must first touch the leading edge
flap.
1) If the flap bullnose does not touch the leading edge flap [1] or [2], adjust the length of
the flap rod.
(b) Adjust the flap rod an additional 1/2 turn to apply the correct preload at the flap bullnose to
the leading edge flap [1] or [2].
(c) Install lockwire, G01912 on the flap rod.

(6) Do this task: Leading Edge Flaps and Slats Retraction, TASK 27-81-00-860-804.

(7) Do a check of the gap and mismatch at the forward edge of the leading edge flap [1] or [2].
(a) Make sure the gap is 0.090 -0.030/+0.060 inch (2.3 -0.8/+1.5 millimeters).
Make sure the gap is 0.090 -0.030/+0.060 inch (2.3 -0.8/1.5 millimeters). For LH wing, the
gap may be up to +0.160 inch for up to 20% of the total interface length.
Make sure the mismatch is -0.030 to +0.020 inch (-0.8 to +0.5 millimeters).

1) If it is necessary, adjust the mismatch dimension.
a) Loosen the nuts [3] to adjust the seal [4].
b) Adjust the seal [4] until you get the correct mismatch requirement.
c) Tighten the nuts [3].

(8) Do a check of the gap and mismatch at the aft edge of the leading edge flap [1] or [2].
(a) Make sure the gap is 0.090 ±0.030 inch (2.3 ±0.8 millimeters) with a minimum gap of 0.050
inch (1.3 millimeters).
(b) Make sure the mismatch is -0.030 to +0.020 inch (-0.8 to +0.5 millimeters).
1) If the mismatch is out of tolerance, adjust the rod end [8] of the flap actuator [7] again.

(9) If you made adjustment to the rod end [8] of the flap actuator [7], do these steps:
(a) Install the bolt [10], washer [11], bushing [12], washer [13] and nut [14] to connect the flap
actuator [7] to the leading edge flap [1] or [2].
(b) Tighten the nut [14] to 660-980 pound-inches (74.6-110.7 newton-meters).
(c) Install the pin [15].
(d) Tighten the nut [9] to 550-650 pound-inches (62.1-73.4 newton-meters).
(e) Install the lockwire, G01912 on the nut [9].
