NOTE: At hinge 2, install the bolt [27] with the head inboard. At hinge 3, install the bolt
[27] with the head outboard.
6) Tighten the nuts [33] to 290-510 pound-inches (32.8-57.6 newton-meters).
7) Install the pin [34].
(b) Install the bolt [30], washers [31] and nut [32] to connect the bonding jumper [29] to the fixed
leading edge.
(c) Connect the bullnose linkage [53] to the fixed leading edge.
1) Install the bolt [42], washer [43], bushing [44], anti-rotation washers [41], washer [56]
and nut [54].
NOTE: Install the bolt [42] with the head inboard.
2) Tighten the nut [54] to 30-50 pound-inches (3.4-5.6 newton-meters).
3) Install the pin [55].

(3) If you removed the inboard Leading edge flap [1], connect the inboard Leading edge flap [1] to
the fixed leading edge:
(a) Connect hinges 5 thru 8 on the Leading edge flap [1] to the fixed leading edge.
1) Apply grease, D00633 on the mating surfaces of the bolts [23] and bolts [27].
2) At hinge 5, install the bolt [23], washer [24], bushing [19], washer [20] and nut [22].
NOTE: Install the bolt [23] with the head outboard.

a) Tighten the nut [22] to 60-95 pound-inches (6.8 10.7 newton-meters).
b) Install the pin [21].
3) At hinges 6 and 7, install the bolts [27], washers [28], bushings [26], washers [25] and
nuts [33].
NOTE: At hinge 6, install the bolt [27] with the head inboard. At hinge 7, install the bolt
[27] with the head outboard.
a) Tighten the nuts [33] to 290-510 pound-inches (32.8-57.6 newton-meters).
b) Install the pin [34].
4) At hinge 8, install the bolt [37], washer [36], bushing [38], washer [35] and nut [39].
NOTE: Install the bolt [37] with the head inboard.
a) Tighten the nut [39] to 60-95 pound-inches (6.8-10.7 newton-meters).
b) Install the pin [40].
(b) Install the bolt [30], washers [31] and nut [32] to connect the bonding jumper [29] to the fixed
leading edge.
(c) Connect the bullnose linkages [53] to the fixed leading edge.
1) Install the bolts [42], washers [43], bushings [44], anti-rotation washers [41], washers
[56] and nuts [54].
NOTE: Install the bolts [42] with the heads outboard.
2) Tighten the nuts [54] to 30-50 pound-inches (3.4-5.6 newton-meters).
3) Install the pin [55].

(4) Do a check of the clearances between the Leading edge flap [2] or Leading edge flap [1] and the
fixed leading edge:
(a) Extend the flap actuator [4] until you can temporarily install the bolt [14].
(b) Fully extend the flap actuator [4].
1) Make sure the flap bullnose can move freely.
(c) Adjust the flap rod [57] until the flap bullnose touches the Leading edge flap [2] or Leading
edge flap [1].
(d) Remove the bolt [14] from the flap actuator [3].
(e) Retract the flap actuator [3].
(f) Do this check while you retract the Leading edge flap [1] or Leading edge flap [2] by hand:
1) Make sure there is sufficient clearance exist between the Leading edge flap [1] or
Leading edge flap [2] and the fixed leading edge.

(5) Connect the flap actuator [4] to the Leading edge flap [2] or Leading edge flap [1].
(a) Apply grease, D00633 on the mating surfaces of the bolt [14] or [9].
(b) For the outboard Leading edge flap [2], install the bolt [9], washer [10], bushing [11],
washer [5], washer [8] and nut [7].
1) You can bond the washer [5] to the Leading edge flap [2] with sealant, A00247 for easier
installation.
(c) For the inboard Leading edge flap [1], install the bolt [14], washer [13], bushing [12], washer
[18], washer [17] and nut [16].

1) You can bond the washer [18] to the Leading edge flap [1] with sealant, A00247 for
easier installation.
(d) Tighten the nut [7] or [16] to 660-980 pound-inches (74.6-110.7 newton-meters).
(e) Install the pin [6] or pin [15].
