ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS. THE LEADING EDGE
FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE
TO EQUIPMENT.
(4) Install the lockout set, SPL-1734 on the actuator of the adjacent leading edge flap. To do this, do
this task: Leading Edge Flap and Slat Locks Installation, TASK 27-81-00-480-801.
E. Leading Edge Flap Removal
SUBTASK 27-81-11-020-001
(1) Disconnect the flap actuator [4] from the Leading edge flap [1] or Leading edge flap [2]:
(a) Remove the pin [6], nut [7], washer [8], bushing [11], washer [10] and bolt [9] to disconnect
the flap actuator [4] from the outboard Leading edge flap [2].
(b) Remove the pin [15], nut [16], washer [17], bushing [12], washer [13] and bolt [14] to
disconnect the flap actuator [4] from the inboard Leading edge flap [1].
SUBTASK 27-81-11-020-002
(2) Do these steps to remove the outboard Leading edge flap [2] from the fixed leading edge:
(a) Disconnect the bullnose linkage [53] from the fixed leading edge flap.
1) Remove the pin [55], nut [54], washer [56], anti-rotation washers [41], bushing [44],
washer [43] and bolt [42].
(b) Disconnect hinges 1 thru 4 on the Leading edge flap [2] from the fixed leading edge.
1) At hinges 1 and 4, remove the pins pin [21], nuts [22], washers [20], bushings [19],
washers [24], and bolts [23].
2) At hinges 2 and 3, remove the pin [34], nuts [33], washers [25], bushings [26], washers
[28], and bolts [27].
(c) Remove the nut [32], washers [31], and bolt [30] to disconnect the bonding jumper [29] from
the fixed leading edge.
(d) Remove the Leading edge flap [2] from the wing.

(3) Do these steps to remove the inboard Leading edge flap [1] from the fixed leading edge:
(a) Disconnect the bullnose linkages [53] from the fixed leading edge flap.
1) Remove the pin [55], nuts [54], washers [56], anti-rotation washers [41], bushings [44],
washers [43] and bolts [42].

(b) Disconnect hinges 5 thru 8 on the Leading edge flap [1] from the fixed leading edge flap.
1) At hinge 5, remove the pin [21], nut [22], washer [20], bushing [19], washer [24], and bolt
[23].
2) At hinges 6 and 7, remove the pin [34], nuts [33], washers [25], bushings [26], washers
[28], and bolts [27].
3) At hinge 8, remove the pin [40], nut [39], washer [35], bushing [38], washer [36], and bolt
[37].
(c) Remove the nut [32], washers [31], and bolt [30] to disconnect the bonding jumper [29] from
the Leading edge flap [1].
(d) Remove the Leading edge flap [1] from the wing.
