G. Leading Edge Slat Actuator Installation
SUBTASK 27-81-41-420-002
(1) If the hydraulic lines [29], [30] or [53], [54] with [40], [41] and bracket [32] are not installed on the
slat actuator assembly [2] , do these steps:
(a) Remove the plugs from the end of the hydraulic lines [29], [30] or [53], [54] with [40], [41]
that attach to the slat actuator assembly [2].
(b) Remove the caps from the hydraulic ports on the slat actuator assembly [2].
(c) Put the bracket [32] in its position on the slat actuator assembly [2] and install the bolts [33]
washers [34 and nuts [35].
(d) Put the hydraulic lines [29], [30] or [53], [54] with [40], [41] in their position on the bracket
[32].
(e) Install the clamps [36], bolts [37], washers [38] and nuts [39] to attach the hydraulic lines
[29], [30] or [53], [54] with [40], [41] to the bracket [32].
(f) Connect the hydraulic lines [29], [30] or [53], [54] with [40] and [41] to the ports in the slat
actuator assembly [2].
(g) On slat 1, put the clamps [26] on the hydraulic lines [29] and [30] and install the bolt [27] and
nut [28].
(h) On slat 2, 3 or 4, do these steps;
1) Put the clamp [52] on the hydraulic line [53].
2) Put the clamps [26] on the hydraulic lines [53] and [54].
3) Install the bolt [27] and nut [28].

(2) Make sure the leading edge slat [1] is in the full extend position.

(3) Connect the slat actuator assembly [2] to the support fitting [46]:
(a) If the washer [42] is not bonded to the support fitting [46], do these steps:

1) Make sure the mating surface of the support fitting [46] is clean.
2) Apply sealant, A00247 to the mating surface of the washer [42] and the support fitting
[46].
3) Put the washer [42] in its position on the rib support fitting [46].
(b) Put the slat actuator assembly [2] in its position on the support fitting [46].
(c) Install the bushing [43], bolt [44], washer [45], washer [48] and nut [47] to attach the slat
actuator assembly [2] to the support fitting [46].
NOTE: Make sure the bushing [43] and the head of the bolt [44] are on the outboard side
of the slat actuator assembly [2].
(d) Tighten the nut [47] to 1100-1500 pound-inches (124.3-169.5 newton-meters).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU SECURELY CONNECT THE HYDRAULIC LINES TO THE
CORRECT PORTS AND FITTINGS. IF YOU CONNECT THE HYDRAULIC LINES TO
INCORRECT PORTS AND FITTINGS, OR IF YOU DO NOT CONNECT ALL
HYDRAULIC LINES, DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR CAN OCCUR
(e) Connect the hydraulic lines [29], [30] or [53], [54] with [40] and [41] to the swivels [31]:
1) Remove the caps from the swivels [31].
2) Remove the plugs from the hydraulic lines [29], [30] or [53], [54] with [40], [41].
3) Connect the hydraulic lines [29], [30] or [53], [54] with [40] and [41] to the swivels [31].
(f) Let the slat actuator assembly [2] hang from the support fitting [46].

(4) Use hydraulic power to extend the slat actuator assembly [2] to the full extend position:
WARNING: MAKE SURE ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT
CONTROL SURFACES, THE THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR.
THESE COMPONENTS CAN MOVE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC
POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a) To pressurize hydraulic system B, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Pressurization,
TASK 29-11-00-860-801.
WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE
FLAPS AND SLATS. THE FLAPS AND SLATS WILL EXTEND. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(b) Move the flap control lever to the 10-unit position to extend the slat actuator [1] to the full
extend position.
(c) To remove power from hydraulic system B, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power
Removal, TASK 29-11-00-860-805.

(5) Make sure the leading edge slat [1] is in the correct position (Figure 402):
