(2) Apply 28V DC to pins 1 and 7 on the auto speed brake to extend the auto speed brake actuator
assembly [16].
NOTE: Use pin 1 as the ground. The pins on the actuator have numbers.

(3) Install the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16]:
(a) Put the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16] in its position on the airplane.
(b) Install the bolt [1], washer [2], lockwire [3] that attaches the auto speed brake actuator
assembly [16] to the structure.
(c) Manually turn the brake lever [15] forward until the internal stop touches.
(d) Adjust the rod end fitting on the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16].
1) Loosen the checknut [9] on the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16] rod end.
2) Adjust the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16] rod end until you can install the bolt
[10] through the brake lever [15] and the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16].
NOTE: To make the alignment easier, you can loosen the brake lever [15] a distance
equal to one-half turn of the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16] rod end.
3) Install the bolt [10] to attach the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16] to the brake
lever [15].
4) Hand tighten the checknut [9] on the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16] rod end.
5) Remove the bolt [10] from the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16] rod end and
brake lever [15].
6) Loosen the checknut [9]. Make sure the rod end doesn’t turn while loosening the
checknut.
7) Turn the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16] rod end in one full turn.
8) Tighten the checknut [9].
(e) Manually turn the brake lever [15] until it aligns with the auto speed brake actuator
assembly [16] rod end.
(f) Install the bolt [10], washer [11], nut [12], and pin [13] to attach the auto speed brake
actuator assembly [16] to the brake lever [15].

(4) Remove the rig pin S/B-1 from test test rig pin kit, SPL-1585.

(5) Apply 28V DC to pins 1 and 3 on the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16] to retract the auto
speed brake actuator assembly [16].

(6) Manually move the speed brake lever through the full travel to make sure it moves freely.

(7) Install the bonding jumper [7]:
(a) Install the bolt [5], washer [6], and nut [8] to attach the bonding jumper [7].
(b) Make sure the bonding resistance between the auto speed brake actuator assembly [16]
and the structure is less than 2.5 milliohms.

(10) Do this task: Put the Speed Brake Systems A and B Back to the Condition Before the
Pressure Removal, TASK 27-62-00-840-802.

(11) Install the lower cover plate [21]:
(a) Install the screws [19] and washers [20].

(12) Do this task: Speed Brake Throttle Switch Test, TASK 27-62-00-820-806.

SPEED BRAKE REFUSED TAKEOFF (RTO) SWITCH - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the speed brake refused takeoff (RTO) switch S650.
(2) An installation of the speed brake refused takeoff (RTO) switch S650.
(3) An adjustment of the speed brake refused takeoff (RTO) switch S650.
B. The speed brake refused takeoff switch (RTO) is installed in the left forward part of the control stand.
C. The speed brake refused takeoff switch (RTO) is operated by the movement of the reverse thrust
levers in a reverse thrust direction. The RTO switch operates with an arm which lifts the speed brake
lever out of the down detent to permit automatic extension of the speed brakes.
