R (b) Measure the dimensions E1 and E2 at the end of each link of the torque link assembly. To calculate the thickness K of the adjusting washer (9), use this formula:
K = 37 mm (1.4578 in) -1/2(E1 + E2)
R (c) Following K value, select the washer size
5.00 mm (0.1938 in) < K < 5.19 mm (0.2045 in) washer size 5.00mm (0.1938 in)
5.20 mm (0.2048 in) < K < 5.39 mm (0.2123 in) washer size 5.20mm (0.2048 in)
5.40 mm (0.2127 in) < K < 5.60 mm (0.2206 in) washer size 5.40mm (0.2127 in)
5.60 mm (0.2206 in) < K replace the torque links.
R (d) Install the lower and upper hinge pins (Ref. TASK 32-21-27-400-001).

Clean the threads of the center hinge pin and nut (3) with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004A) and dry them with filtered compressed air.

Do the torque procedure on the nut (3)
(a)
Apply a light coat of SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-047) to the threads of the center hinge pin, to the threads of the nut
(3) and to the washer (7).
(b)
Apply a light coat of COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-004A) to the washer (8).
(c)
Install the washers (8), (7) and the nut (3).
(d)
TORQUE the nut (3) to 9 m.daN (66.37 lbf.ft) and loosen the nut (3). Do this three times.
(e)
Loosen the nut (3) to get a play J2, between 0.02 mm (0.0007 in.) and 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
(f)
Make sure that you can align a hole of the nut (3) with the slot of the center hinge pin and keep the play J2 given above. If not:
-loosen the nut (3),
-remove the washer (7),
-adjust the thickness of the washer (7) to get the play J2 given above with a hole of the nut (3) aligned with the slot of the center hinge pin.

____ must not be less than 4 mm (0.1574 in.). If the thickness of the washer (7) is less than 4 mm (0.1574 in.), replace it with a new washer (7).

do a passivating treatment on the reworked surface (Ref. CMM 320901),
-
do the torque procedure on the nut (3) again.
(g)
Apply a light coat of SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-047) to the threads of the screw (2).
(h)
Install the screw (2), the washer (4), the nut (5) and tighten it.
(i)
Install the new cotter pin (6) on the nut (5).
(10)
Apply a layer of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-001) to the areas identified E.
(11)
Make sure that the lubrication points are clean and in good condition.
