R  E. Touching-up Paint that is resistant to Skydrol 
R  (1) Preparation of the areas to be painted 
R  (a) Clean the surfaces to be painted with CLEANING AGENTS (Material 
R  No. 11-002). Dry them with clean, filtered compressed air. 
R  (b) Apply the STRIPPERS (Material No. 12-005) with a paint brush. If 
R  it is necessary, use a brush on the surface. 
R  (c) If you do this operation in a building, make sure that the work 
R  area is open to the air. 
R  (d) Do not let the material touch the surfaces for more than 5 hours. 
R  CAUTION : THE MATERIAL MUST NOT TOUCH RUBBER, PLASTICS OR_______ 
R  ASSEMBLY AREAS. 
R  (e) Flush with water, under pressure if it is possible until all the 
R  paint and cleaning product are removed. 
R  (f) Dry, then clean and degrease with a chlorine-base solvent. Make 
R  sure that the surfaces have no oxidation. 
R  (2) Preparation of the Paint Mixtures 
R  (a) Primer - (metaflex WR) STRUCTURE PAINTS (Material No. 16-005) 
R  NOTE : You can keep the mixture for 8 hours at 20 deg.C (68____ 
R  deg.F). 
R  1_  100 parts of primer
R  2_  100 parts of hardener
R  3_  20 parts of thinner
R  (b) Undercoat STRUCTURE PAINTS (Material No. 16-001) 
R  NOTE : You can keep the mixture for 6 hours at 20 deg.C (68____ 
R  deg.F).

R  You must prepare it half an hour before you use it. 
R  1_  100 parts of primer
R  2_  30 parts of hardener
R  3_  50 parts of thinner
R  (c) Top-coat STRUCTURE PAINTS (Material No. 16-016) 
R  NOTE : You can keep the mixture for 6 hours at 20 deg.C (68____ 
R  deg.F). 
R  You must prepare it half an hour before you use it. 
R  1_  100 parts of primer
R  2_  100 parts of hardener
R  3_  30 parts of thinner
R  (3) Apply the Paint 
R  NOTE : Apply the paint with a spray gun and cover the adjacent____ 
R  surfaces. When it is possible, the paint and the surfaces must 
R  be at the same temperature : 
R  15 to 25 deg.C (59 to 77 deg.F). The relative humidity must be 
R  35 to 75%. 
R  (a) Apply a layer of the primer. Let it dry for not less than 2 hours 
R  and not more than 3 hours. 
R  NOTE : You must apply the primer to bare steel with TS more than____ 
R  1450 MPa. When you paint bare steel with TS more than 1450 
R  MPa, the procedure is an undercoat and a finishing layer. 
R  (b) Apply a layer of the undercoat. Let it dry for not less than 3 
R  hours and not more than 4 hours. 
R  (c) Apply a layer of top-coat. Let it dry for 24 hours before you 
R  touch it. 
R  NOTE : The paint must dry for 7 days before it is resistant to____ 
R  Skydrol.

 F. Replacement of Sealants
 (1) Preparation of areas NOTE : You must replace the sealants if they can decrease the sealing
____ of assemblies or if they are damaged.
 (a) Make sure that there are no signs of sealant on the surface to be treated. Remove sealant with a spatula.
 CAUTION : DO NOT DAMAGE THE PROTECTIVE FINISH.

 (b) Clean and degrease the paint with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-002).
 (2) Apply sealing compounds
 (a) Use the SEALANTS (Material No. 09-001) for :
 -
the seals of fixed assemblies that can be damaged or not

 -
the heads of bolts and nuts 1 Mix the SEALANTS (Material No. 09-001) : 100 g (0.22 lb) of

_ compound with 10 g (0.022 lb) of activator
 2 Paint all the parts that it is necessary to paint, then apply
_ this mixture with a brush or a spatula.
 NOTE : Apply layers of 0.2 to 1 mm (0.008 to 0.039 in) thick.
____ 3 Let the parts dry for 24 to 36 hours.
_ NOTE : You can keep the material as it is or you can apply a
____ finishing layer of paint that dries at the ambient temperature.
 (b) Use the SEALANTS (Material No. 09-002) to :
