OCCUR.
(1) Do the stabilizer trim cutout test:
(a) Make sure that the main cutout switch, S272 on the control stand is in the NORMAL
position.
(b) Set the STAB TRIM switch on the stab trim and cabin door, P8-47 module, to the NORM
position.
(c) Position the stabilizer to an intermediate position (Approximately 8 units of trim is
satisfactory).
(d) Move and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE UP
position.
1) Make sure that the stabilizer leading edge moves down (APL NOSE UP).
2) While the stabilizer moves, push the captain’s control column forward until the column
cutout switch stops the stabilizer.
3) Immediately release the control column to the neutral position with the two stab trim
switches still held in the nose up position.
4) With the control column in the neutral position, make sure the stabilizer leading edge
continues to move down.
5) Release the STAB TRIM switches.
(e) Move and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE DOWN
position.
1) Make sure that the stabilizer leading edge moves up (APL NOSE DOWN).
2) While the stabilizer moves, pull the captain’s control column aft until the column cutout
switch stops the stabilizer.
3) Immediately release the control column to the neutral position with the two stab trim
switches still held in the nose down position.
4) With the control column in the neutral position, make sure the stabilizer leading edge
continues to move up.
5) Release the STAB TRIM switches.
(f) Position the stabilizer to an intermediate position (Approximately 8 units of trim is
satisfactory).
(g) Move and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE UP
position.
1) Make sure that the stabilizer leading edge moves down (APL NOSE UP).
2) While the stabilizer moves, push the captain’s control column forward until the column
cutout switch stops the stabilizer.
3) Hold the captain’s control column in this position and immediately release the STAB
TRIM switches.
4) Use a control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 to make sure the captain’s control
column is between 2.90 and 3.70 degrees forward from the neutral position.

5) Put the captain’s control column back to the neutral position.
(h) Position the stabilizer to an intermediate position (Approximately 8 units of trim is
satisfactory).
(i) Move and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE DOWN
position.
1) Make sure that the stabilizer leading edge moves up (APL NOSE DOWN).
2) While the stabilizer moves, pull the captain’s control column aft until the column cutout
switch stops the stabilizer.
3) Hold the captain’s control column in this position and immediately release the STAB
TRIM switches.
4) Use a control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 to make sure the captain’s control
column is between 3.20 and 4.21 degrees aft from the neutral position.
5) Put the captain’s control column back to the neutral position.

A. General
(1) Use this test to make sure the captain’s and first officer column cutout switches operate
correctly.
B. Tools/Equipment
