G. Prepare for the Installation
SUBTASK 27-31-31-860-002
(1) Make sure that pressure to the elevator hydraulic systems A and B is removed. To remove it, do
this task: Remove Pressure from the Elevator Hydraulic Systems A and B,
TASK 27-31-00-800-802.

(2) Examine the data plate on the elevator tab for the necessary number of the tab adjust weights
(SRM 51-60-06).

(3) Make sure the elevator has the correct number of the tab adjust weights (SRM 51-60-06).
(a) Add or remove weights on the elevator balance panels as applicable.
H. Elevator Tab Installation
SUBTASK 27-31-31-020-005
(1) Install the elevator tab assembly [22]:
(a) Clean the elevator locations where bonding jumper [28] and bonding jumper [36] will be
attached.
(b) If bonding jumper [28] or bonding jumper [36] were removed from the elevator tab
assembly [22], reinstall them.
1) Use the bonding meter, COM-1550 to make sure there is a maximum of 100 ohms
between the bonding jumper [28] or bonding jumper [36] and the elevator tab
assembly [22] after piercing the painted surface to the conductive graphite layer of the
elevator tab assembly [22].
2) Repair the paint of the elevator tab assembly [22] where the ohmmeter readings were
taken.
3) Seal the bonding jumper ends and fasteners with sealant, A00247.

(c) Apply compound, D50004 to the threads of the bolts [40] and the bolts [47].
NOTE: Do not apply compound, D50004 to the unthreaded part of the bolts.

(d) Put the elevator tab assembly [22] near its position behind the elevator.

CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE BONDING JUMPERS SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE
ELEVATOR TAB ASSEMBLY [22]. THE BONDING JUMPERS CAN BE DAMAGED.
(e) Connect the bonding jumper [28] to the elevator [21]:
1) Install the bolt [29], washers [27] and nut [26] to attach the bonding jumper [28] to the
elevator [21].
2) Use the bonding meter, COM-1550 to make sure there is a maximum of 100 ohms to
100K ohms between the bonding jumper [28] and the elevator after piercing the painted
surface to the conductive graphite layer of the elevator [21].
(f) Connect the bonding jumper [36] to the elevator [21]:
1) Install the bolt [37], washers [35] and nut [34] to attach the bonding jumper [36] to the
elevator [21].
2) Use the bonding meter, COM-1550 to make sure there is a maximum of 100 ohms to
100K ohms between the bonding jumper [36] and the elevator [21] after piercing the
painted surface to the conductive graphite layer of the elevator [21].
(g) Seal the bonding jumper ends and fasteners with sealant, A00247.
(h) Connect the elevator tab assembly [22] to the elevator [21]:
NOTE: If you loosened or removed the nuts [30] or nuts [45], they need to be replaced
with new nuts. Using new nuts will ensure that they have the required run-on
torque.
1) Install the bolts [47], washers [48], bushings [49], washers [50], and new nuts [52] on the
outboard hinges (hinges other than hinge 1, or the most inboard hinge).
NOTE: If it is necessary, you can install up to two additional washers under the nut.
GUN 156, 201-204, 206 PRE SB 737-55A1080
(i) Tighten the new nuts [52] to 50 - 80 pound-inches (5.7 - 9.0 newton-meters) and install new
pins [51].
NOTE: Make sure the new nuts [52] stay tightened to 50 - 80 pound-inches (5.7 - 9.0
newton-meters) after alignment of the nut [52] and bolt [47] cotter pin hole.
