If the fixed and movable fairings are not aligned to the permitted tolerance, do these steps.

 (a)  
Remove the bolts which attach the adjustable rod ends to the fixed fairing.

 (b)  
Loosen the checknuts on the adjustable rods.

 (c)  
Adjust the rod length if it is necessary.

 (3)  
Install the bolts. Tighten the nuts to 50-70 pound-inches
 (5.6-7.9 N-m).

 (4)  
Tighten the checknuts on the rod ends.

 (5)  
Install the lockwire on the checknuts.

Move the flaps and make sure that the fairing operates correctly.

Put the flap control lever in the UP detent to retract the flaps.

Make sure that the fairing clearances are in the tolerance.

Make sure that the clearance between the seal retainer and flap is in the tolerance.

If not in the tolerance, extend the flaps and adjust the seal.

Remove the snubber block and shims if they are installed.

Make a mark on the support bracket of the snubber to align with the centerline of the ball screw support roller.

Find the thickness of the shims to install on the snubber block.

 (a)  
Measure the distance (Dimension A) from the support bracket of the snubber block to the bottom of the ball screw support roller.

 (b)  
Use fasteners in one set of the holes in the support bracket to temporarily install the snubber block.

 NOTE:  Do not try to align the snubber block centerline with
____
 the ball screw centerline.

 (c)  Measure the distance (Dimension B) between the snubber block centerline and the mark you made on the support bracket of the snubber block.
 NOTE:  Dimension B can be on the inboard or the outboard side
____
 of the ball screw centerline.
