14) Use the ram as a ring hammer to move the seal guide ring down and the seal (4) into the gland. a) It is necessary to blow two or more times on the seal guide ring.
15) If the unwanted bounce occurs, examine the bottom edge of the compression strap.
16) See if the flange of the seal is not confined.
17) If the flange is not confined, disassemble the seal compression strap.
18) Replace the thumb screws on the seal guide ring and install the seal again.
19) Remove the installation ram, the compression ring assembly and the seal guide ring.
20) Make sure the higher edge of the seal is smooth with or below the top surface of the lower bearing (12).
21) If some of the seal flange is not in its position, do the subsequent step.
22) Push the seal into the gland with moderately finger tip pressure.
23) The seal flange must be smooth with the top of the lower bearing surface if you install the seal correctly.
24) Install the backup rings (11) and carefully align the ends 180 degrees apart.
NOTE: Install the white backup ring until the radius of
____ the backup ring aligns the radius of the seal (8) (Detail C, Fig. 801).
25) Remove the installation ram, the compression strap and the seal guide ring.
26) Move the lower bearing (12) up into its position for the entry into the outer cylinder (2). a) The seal friction will hold the bearing in its position.
Put the washer, the lower bearing and the gland nut (9) on top
of each other.
Measure the height.
Get the dimension as the dimension A (section A-A, Fig. 802).
Use the inner cylinder wrench to set the lower centering cam in
the outer cylinder.
NOTE: Make sure the cam keys and the rivets attach
____ correctly before you put the cam into the outer cylinder (Fig. 801).

Install the lower cam screw into the hole with finger tight
pressure.
Hold the lower centering cam in its position if it is
necessary.
Examine that the two keys on the lower centering cam are in its
position before you install the lower bearing (12).
Move the lower bearing assembly into the outer cylinder and
install the bearing with the gland seating tool (Fig. 802).
NOTE: Do not use the Flexeon installation ram to install
____ the bearing assembly into the outer cylinder. The ram does not have the sufficient length to move the seal (6) through the split guide for the gland seal.
Use the installation ram to install the bearing.
1) Remove the lower gland split guide.
2) Put the Flex-e-On split guide ring in the bottom of the outer cylinder with the manual instructions.
3) Assemble the installation ram with the end up above the inner cylinder and below the lower bearing.
4) Use the ram to hit the lower bearing with the upward movement.
5) Hit the lower bearing until the bearing top is in its position to go into the split guide.
