Remove the lockbolt (1), the nut (2) and the washer.

Remove the lockbolt (8), the nut (9) and the washer from the bolt (11).

Hold the lower side brace (3) and pull out the lower bolt (11) and the support bracket (10) of the cable pulley.

 (e)  
Hold the upper side brace (3) and pull out the upper bolt (5).

 NOTE: The removal of the upper side brace is the same as the

 lower side brace.

 (f)  Remove the fasteners which holds the stirrup (13) to support bracket (14) and remove the bracket. 1) If it is necessary, remove the washer (15) from the right
 side.

 (1)  
Clean side brace bolts, washers and nuts with naphtha.

 S 224-009

 (2)  
Examine the bolts and the bushings for wear limits
 (AMM 32-21-06/601).

 (3)  
Assemble the lube inserts.

 (a)  
Examine the O-rings on the lube inserts for worn areas or damage and replace if it is necessary.

 (b)  
Apply a large quantity layer of grease to the O-rings, the lube inserts, and the internal surface of the bolts.

 (c)  
Move the O-rings to the retainers and lubricate the surfaces to put into if it is necessary.

 (d)  
Install the lube inserts into the bolts to form the pin assembly, and align the lockbolt holes.

 E.  Procedure
 S 424-011
 (1)  Install the side braces.
 NOTE: The installation of the lower side brace is the same as the

 upper side brace.

 (a)  
Lubricate pin assembly shanks, threads, washers and bearing surfaces with grease before you install the pin assemblies.

 (b)  
Set the upper side brace (3) for installation on the trunnion

 (7)
 of the nose landing gear.

 1)  Install the upper pin assembly which include the lube insert (6) and the bolt (5).
 (c)  Install the support bracket (10) of the cable pulley and the washer on the lower pin assembly.
 NOTE: The lower pin assembly have the lube insert (12) and
____
 the bolt (11).

 (d)  
Install the pin assembly (with the support bracket of the cable pulley) through the strut and the side brace (3) from the aft side of the strut.

 (e)  
Install the stirrup support bracket on the left bolt (11) only.

 (f)  
Install the washer (15) on the right side only, if removed.

 (g)  
Install the nut (2) on the pin assembly at the upper end of the side brace. 1) Tighten the nut 50 - 70 pound-feet (lube torque). 2) If it is necessary, loosen the nut to the nearest
