B. Preparation

(1) If you have not already done so:
S Raise the airplane on jacks and make the
airplane level.
S Move the nose trestle into position.
Refer to Section 07-10.

(2) Examine the engine and propeller control cables.
Move each cable through its range of movement
several times.
(3) Make sure all the electrical cables are clean and
not damaged.
(4) Make sure all the oil hoses are not damaged.
(5) Make sure all the fuel pipes/hoses are not
damaged.
(6) Make sure that all drains and vents are not
damaged or blocked.
(7) Make sure that all the flexible hoses are clean
and not damaged.

(8) If you install a new engine:
S Install the fuel supply hose to the inlet to the
fuel pump.
S Install the oil pipe to the connection below the
oil filter.
Set the pipe to the orientation recorded
at Paragraph 2.B.(52).
Set the pipe to the orientation recorded
at Paragraph 2.B.(52).
C. Install the Engine

(1) Move the engine into position with the hoist. Make sure that the engine does not
catch on any cables or equipment.
Move the fuel and oil hoses through the
engine mount.
Note: Top mountings have the cone-shaped shock-mount FORWARD, the cylindricalshaped
shock-mount AFT.
Bottom mountings have the cylindrical-shaped shock-mount FORWARD, the
cone-shaped shock-mount AFT.

(2) Assemble the 4 shock mounts:
S Move the front shock mount rubber into
position between the engine mount and the
rear face of the engine mounting.
S Move the rear shock mount rubber into
position in the engine mount.
S Install the washer under the head of the
engine mounting bolt.
S Push the engine mounting bolt through the
shock mount assembly from aft.
S Install the nuts and washers onto the engine
mounting-bolts.
Do this item for each mount. Do the top
mounts first and then the bottom
mounts.
Refer to Figure 5.
Make sure that the rubbers are
correctly seated.
Make sure that the rubbers are
correctly seated.
Do not tighten the nuts.
(3) When you have installed all the mounting bolts,
then tighten all the engine mounting-bolts.
(4) Carefully lower the engine hoist to release the
weight of the engine and move the hoist clear of
the airplane.
(5) Install the engine air cooling baffles. Refer to Section 75-00.
(6) Put the electrical cables in position on the right
hand side of the engine.
(7) Install the propeller, if necessary. Refer to Section 61-00.
(8) Install the cylinder-head temperature probes:
S Put the cylinder probe into the cylinder
mounting.
S Connect the electrical cables at the in-line
connectors.
S Attach the probe cables to the main wiring
loom with cable ties and P-clamps.
Do this item for each of the probes.
White cable to white cable and red
cable to red cable.
(9) Connect the manifold pressure hose to the No. 4
cylinder inlet manifold.

(10) Connect the electrical cables to these
components:
S The engine earth point.
S The generator (5 cables).
S The starter motor (1 cable).
S Fuel pressure sensors (2 cables).
S Oil temperature sensor.
S Fuel flow sensor.
S RPM sensor.
Install the P-clamps and cable-ties which hold the
electrical cables in their correct positions.
Refer to drawing.
At the in-line connector.
(11) Connect the oil pipe to the top of the accessoryhousing.
(12) Connect the oil pipe to the rear connection of the
oil cooler.
(13) Install the P-clamps which attach the oil cooler
pipes to the engine mount.
(14) Connect the engine breather hose to the breather
connection at the top of the accessory housing.
(15) Attach the drain tube to the fuel flow divider:
S Push one end of the tube onto the connector
