Maintenance Practices
1. General
The maintenance practices for the engine mount are limited to removal/installation. If the engine mount
is damaged it must be repaired by an authorized repair facility.
2. Remove/Install the Engine Mount
A. Equipment

Hoist. 1 Commercial.
Engine sling. 1 Commercial.
Engine stand. 1 Commercial.
Airplane jacks. 3 Commercial.
Nose trestle. 1 Commercial.
Wing trestle. 2 Commercial.
B. Remove the Engine Mount.

(1) Lift the airplane on jacks and make the airplane
level.
Refer to Section 07-10.
(2) Move the wing trestles into position. Refer to Section 07-10.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE ENGINE IS SAFE BEFORE YOU DO ANY
WORK ON THE PROPELLER. IF THE ENGINE IS TURNED, THE
PROPELLER CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
(3) Set the fuel selector/shut-off valve to OFF.
(4) Make sure that the engine is safe:
S Set the ignition switch to OFF.
S Set the throttle to IDLE.
S Set the mixture control to LEAN CUT-OFF.

(5) Remove the propeller (if necessary). Refer to Section 61-00.
(6) Remove the engine. Refer to Section 71-00.
(7) Disconnect the elastomer pack for the nose gear
leg from the engine mount:
S Support the weight of the nose gear leg.
S Remove the bolt and washer from the
elastomer pack eye end.
This bolt also holds the engine mount.
(8) Remove the SlickSTART booster control unit or
LASAR control unit from the engine mount:
S Remove the two nuts, bolts and washers
which attach the control unit.
S If the LASAR system is installed, then remove
the manifold pressure hose from the control
unit.
Note the position of the earth cable.
(9) Remove the voltage regulator from the engine
mount:
S Remove the 4 nuts and washers which attach
the voltage regulator to the engine mount.
(10) Remove the four nuts and washers which attach
the engine mount to the fuselage. Move the
engine mount clear of the airplane.
Hold the engine mount.

C. Install the Engine Mount

(1) Make sure that the engine mount is clean and not
damaged.
(2) Move the engine mount into position on the
firewall.
(3) Install the four outer bolts which attach the
engine mount to the fuselage:
S Install the washers on the bolts.
S Push the bolts through the firewall and
mounting pads.
S Install the washers and nuts on the bolts.
(4) Attach the elastomer pack for the nose gear leg
to the engine mount:
S Move the eye end into position (in line with
the center mounting pad for the engine
mounting-fame).
S Install the washer on the mounting bolt.
S Push the mounting bolt through the eye end,
the mounting pad and the firewall.
S Install the washer and nut onto the bolt

(5) Install the SlickSTART booster control unit or
LASAR control unit:
S Move the control unit into position on the
engine mount.
S Move the earth cable into position.
S Install the washers onto the bolts
S Push the bolts through the control unit and
the mount.
S Install the earth cable onto the top mounting
bolt.
S Install the washers and nuts onto the bolts.
S If the LASAR system is installed, then
connect the manifold pressure hose to the
connector on the LASAR control unit.
(6) Install the voltage regulator onto the engine
mount:
S Put the voltage regulator into position on the
engine mount.
S Install the 4 washers and nuts which attach
the voltage regulator to the engine mount.
S Tighten the nuts.
