1. General
Tubular steel makes the engine mount. The engine mount has welded joints. Powder coating protects
the frame from corrosion. Welded brackets hold components such as the coolant radiator and the
intercooler. Rubber lined P-clamps and cable ties hold electrical cables and other items of equipment
to the engine mount.
The engine mounting-frame has five small mounting pads at the rear of the frame. Bolts through the
pads attach the engine mount to the fuselage. The center mounting also supports the elastomer pack
for the nose gear leg.
The engine attaches to the engine mount at three mounting pads. Large gel-filled rubber shock-mounts
go between the engine and the engine mount pads. These shock-mounts isolate the airframe from
engine vibrations.

Trouble-Shooting
1. General
The table below lists the defects you could have with the engine mounting. If you have the trouble
detailed in the Trouble column read across to the Possible Cause column. Then do the repair in the
Repair column.

Engine vibration. Cracked engine mount. Do a test for cracked tubes.
Look specially at the welded

Maintenance Practices
1. General
The maintenance practices for the engine mount are limited to removal/installation. If the engine mount
is damaged it must be repaired by an authorized repair facility.
2. Remove/Install the Engine Mount
A. Equipment

B. Remove the Engine Mount.

(1) Remove the engine. Refer to Section 71-01.
(2) Release all clamps, clips and ties holding the
electrical harness and hoses to the engine mount.
(3) Remove the oil radiator:
S Disconnect the oil hoses at the oil radiator.
S Remove the bolts, nuts and washers holding
the oil radiator to the engine mount.
S Move the oil radiator clear of the engine mount.
(4) Remove the fuel filter housing:
S Disconnect the fuel lines on the rear side of the
fuel filter housing.
S Remove the worm-drive clamps on the fuel
filter housing.
S Move the filter housing clear of the engine
mount.
Put caps on the open ends of the hoses.

(5) Remove the air filter housing:
S Disconnect the worm-drive clamp on the air
filter and remove the air filter.
S Remove the bolts, nuts and washers holding
the alternate air valve to the filter housing.
S Remove the bolts, nuts and washers holding
the filter housing to the engine mount.
S Move the filter housing clear of the engine
mount.
Hold filter and worm-drive clamp.
(6) Remove the oil separator:
S Remove the bolts, nuts and washers holding
the oil separator to the engine mount.
S Move the oil separator clear of the engine
mount together with the oil hoses.
(7) Remove the instrument panel cover. To get access to the upper bolt of the
engine mount. Refer to Section 25-10.
(8) Remove the 5 nuts and washers which hold the
engine mount to the fuselage. Push the bolts out of
the mounting pads.
(9) Move the engine mount clear of the airplane.
