A. Remove the Propeller

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE ENGINE IS SAFE BEFORE YOU DO ANY
WORK ON THE PROPELLER. IF THE ENGINE IS TURNED, THE
PROPELLER CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
(1) Make sure that the engine is safe:
S Set the ignition switch to OFF.
S Set the throttle to IDLE.
S Set the mixture control to LEAN CUT-OFF.
(2) Remove the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-10.
(3) Disconnect the spark-plug-leads from the spark
plugs.
Note: Mark the propeller, spinner, front support plate and spinner bulkhead, with an
index mark. This will help you install these items in the correct position.
(4) Remove the spinner:
S Mark the spinner and spinner bulkhead with
index marks to aid installation.
S Release the screws holding the spinner to the
spinner bulkhead.
S Release the screws holding the spinner to the
front support plate and move the spinner
clear of the airplane.
S Mark the front support plate with an index
mark to align with the other index marks.

(5) Cut the lock-wire on the attaching bolts.
(6) Remove the special bolts which attach the
propeller to the crankshaft flange.
Hold the propeller!
(7) Pull the propeller forward and clear of the
crankshaft flange bushings.
B. Install the Propeller

(1) Make sure that the engine is safe:
S Set the ignition switch to OFF.
S Set the throttle to IDLE.
S Set the mixture control to LEAN CUT-OFF.
(2) Remove the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-10.
(3) Make sure that the spark-plug cables are
disconnected from the spark-plugs.
(4) If necessary, install the spinner bulkhead onto the
hub:
S Ensure that the mating surfaces are clean
and dry.
S Install the six bolts and washers which attach
the spinner bulkhead to the hub.
S Lock the bolts in pairs with lock-wire.
Align the index marks.
(5) Make sure that the engine flange, engine
flywheel and the propeller flange are clean and
dry.
(6) Make sure that a new O-ring seal is in place in
the propeller hub. Lightly oil the seal.
Refer to Figure 2.
Use clean engine oil.

(7) If necessary, install the six special bolts which
attach the propeller hub to the crankshaft flange.
(8) Move the propeller into position on the crankshaft
bushings.
Take care not to damage the propeller
O-ring seal.
(9) Turn each bolt a small amount. Turn the bolts in
opposing pairs until they are finger tight.
Make sure that the propeller is pushed
into the correct position by hand. Do not
use the bolts to pull the propeller into
position.
(10) When the propeller is in the correct position fully
tighten the bolts in opposing pairs.
Torque 85 - 90 Nm (63 - 66 ft.lb).
(11) Lock the bolts in pairs with lock-wire.
(12) If necessary, install the front support plate:
S Ensure that the mating surfaces are clean
and dry.
S Install the six screws and washers which
attach the support plate to the hub.
S Lock the screws in pairs with lock-wire.
Align the index marks.
(13) Do a test for correct blade track. Refer to Paragraph 3.
(14) Install the spinner:
S Loosely install the screws and plastic
washers which attach the spinner to the
spinner bulkhead.
S Loosely install the screws and plastic
