S Set the ALT/BAT switch to ON.
S Do an engine ground run-up.
S Shut the engine down.
The indicator must show zero.
Refer to the DA 40 Airplane Flight
Manual. The oil pressure indicator must
show the relevant pressure of the oil.
(10) Look for oil leaks from the transducer:
S Remove the engine top-cowling.
S Look for oil leaks from the transducer.
S Install the engine top-cowling.

F. Replace the Fuel Pressure Transducer
Detail Steps/Work Items Key Items/References
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS SAFE BEFORE YOU DO ANY WORK
ON IT. IF THE ENGINE STARTS THE PROPELLER CAN CAUSE
INJURY OR DEATH.
(1) Make sure that the engine is safe:
S The ignition switch is set to OFF.
S Set the ALT/BAT switch to OFF.
S The throttle is set to IDLE.
S The mixture control is set to LEAN CUT-OFF.
S Set the fuel shut-off to SHUT-OFF.
(2) Remove the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-10.
(3) Disconnect the airplane battery. Refer to Section 24-31.
(4) Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel
pressure transducer:
S Remove the screw which attaches the
connector to the transducer.
S Pull the connector off from the transducer.
Refer to Figure 7.
WARNING: DO NOT GET FUEL ON YOU. FUEL CAN CAUSE SKIN DISEASE.
WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW FIRE NEAR FUEL. FUEL BURNS AND CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(5) Replace the fuel pressure transducer:
S Remove the defective transducer from the
mounting and discard the O-ring seal.
S Install a new O-ring seal onto the
replacement transducer.
S Install the replacement transducer into the
mounting.
Use a suitable container to collect spilt
fuel. Put caps on all open connections.

(6) Connect the electrical cables to the fuel pressure
sensor:
S Put the electrical connector into position on
the transducer.
S Install the screw which attaches the electrical
connector to the transducer.
(7) Connect the airplane battery. Refer to Section 24-31.
(8) Look for fuel leaks from the sensor:
S Set the ALT/BAT switch to ON.
S Set fuel pump switch to ON.
S Look for fuel leaks, specially in the area of the
fuel pressure sensor.
S Set fuel pump switch to OFF.
S Set the ALT/BAT switch to OFF.
(9) Install the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-10.
(10) Do a test of the fuel pressure indicating system:
S Monitor the fuel pressure indicator.
S Set the ALT/BAT switch to ON.
S Set the electric fuel pump to ON.
S Do an engine ground run-up.
S Shut the engine down.
The indicator must read zero.
The indicator must read the relevant
pressure.
Refer to the DA 40 Airplane Flight
Manual. The indicator must show the
relevant fuel pressure.

G. Replace the Manifold Pressure Transducer

(5) Replace the manifold pressure transducer:
S Remove the defective transducer from the
mounting and discard the O-ring seal.
S Install a new O-ring seal onto the
replacement transducer.
S Install the replacement transducer into the
mounting.
(6) Connect the electrical cables to the manifold
pressure sensor:
S Put the electrical connector into position on
the transducer.
S Install the screw which attaches the electrical
connector to the transducer.
