(2) Remove the engine top-cowling. Refer to Section 71-10.
(3) Disconnect the airplane battery. Refer to Section 24-31.
(4) Disconnect the electrical cables from the
temperature probe.
Refer to Figure 4.
At the in-line connector.
(5) Replace the CHT probe:
S Unscrew the probe from the cylinder head.
S Move the probe clear of the airplane.
S Install the new probe.
(6) Connect the electrical cables to the probe. At the in-line connector.
(7) Connect the airplane battery. Refer to Section 24-31.
(8) Install the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-10.

(9) Do a test of the CHT indicating system:
S Monitor the CHT indicator.
S Set the ALT/BAT Switch to ON.
S Do a ground run-up of the engine.
The indicator must show zero.
The indicator must show the ambient
temperature of the cylinder head.

Manual. The CHT indicator must show
the relevant temperature.
D. Replace an Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Probe

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS SAFE BEFORE YOU DO ANY WORK
ON IT. IF THE ENGINE STARTS THE PROPELLER CAN CAUSE
INJURY OR DEATH.
(1) Make sure that the engine is safe:
S The ignition switch is set to OFF.
S Set the ALT/BAT switch to OFF.
S The throttle is set to IDLE.
S The mixture control is set to LEAN CUT-OFF.
(2) Remove the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-10.
(3) Disconnect the airplane battery. Refer to Section 24-31.
(4) Disconnect the electrical cables from the EGT
probe.
Refer to Figure 5.
At the in-line connector.
(5) Replace the EGT probe:
S Release the worm drive clamp which holds
the EGT probe in position.
S Replace the EGT probe.
S Install the worm drive clamp which holds the
EGT probe.

WARNING: DO NOT GET OIL ON YOU. OIL CAN CAUSE SKIN DISEASE.
(5) Replace the transducer:
S Remove the defective transducer from the
mount and discard the O-ring seal.
S Install a new O-ring seal on the new
transducer.
S Install the new transducer.
Use a suitable container to collect the
spilt oil. Put caps on all open
connections.
(6) Connect the electrical cables to the transducer:
S Install the electrical cable eye-ends onto the
transducer connectors.
S Install the 2 washers and nuts which attach
the eye-ends.
S Move the rubber protective boots back into
position over the eye-ends.
Refer to Chapter 92 for the Wiring
Diagrams.
(7) Connect the airplane battery. Refer to Section 24-31.
(8) Install the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-10.
(9) Do a test of the engine oil pressure indicating
system:
S Monitor the oil pressure indicator.
