(50) Install the airplane battery. Refer to Section 24-31.
(51) If necessary, for your airworthiness authority, do
a second inspection of these control systems:
S Throttle.
S Mixture.
S Propeller.
S Alternate air.
(52) Install the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-10.
(53) Remove the wing trestles.
(54) Lower the airplane with the jacks. Refer to Section 7–10.
(55) Do a test of the engine. Refer to Paragraph 4.

4. Remove the Engine with the Engine Mount

B. Remove the Engine with the Engine Mount

(1) Lift the airplane on jacks and make the airplane
level.
Refer to Section 07-10.
(2) Move the wing trestles into position. Refer to Section 07-10.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE ENGINE IS SAFE BEFORE YOU DO ANY
WORK ON THE PROPELLER. IF THE ENGINE IS TURNED, THE
PROPELLER CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
(3) Set the fuel selector/shut-off valve to CLOSED.
(4) Make sure that the engine is safe:
S Set the ignition switch to OFF.
S Set the throttle to IDLE.
S Set the mixture control to LEAN CUT-OFF.
(5) Remove the engine cowlings. Refer to Section 71-10.
(6) Remove the battery. Refer to Section 24-31.
(7) Disconnect the spark plug cables from the spark
plugs.

(8) Disconnect the cables for the exhaust gas
temperature (EGT) probes:
S Disconnect the cables at the in-line
connectors.
S Remove the cable ties attaching the cable for
the probe to the engine mount.
S Move the cable clear of the engine and the
engine mount.
Do this item for each of the four probes.
Note the location of the cable ties.
(9) Disconnect the propeller control cable, at the
propeller governor:
S Loosen the nut and bolt which attaches the
cable wire end to the governor.
S Pull the cable wire end out of the bolt.
(10) Release the propeller control cable from the
support bracket at the propeller governor:
S Remove the front adjusting nut and washer.
S Move the cable clear of the support bracket.
S Remove the rear adjusting nut and washer.
(11) Move the propeller control cable aft through the
rubber grommets in the engine cooling baffles.
Move the propeller control cable clear of
the engine.
(12) Remove the propeller (if necessary). Refer to Section 61-00.
(13) Disconnect the mixture control eye end at the
engine mixture lever:
S Remove the nut and washer from the long
bolt at the mixture lever.
S Remove the mixture cable eye end from the
lever.
S Remove the spacer and the long bolt.

(14) Remove the eye end from the control cable:
S Release the lock-nut.
S Remove the eye-end fitting and lock-nut from
the cable.
(15) Release the mixture cable from the support
bracket at the front of the engine:
S Remove the bottom adjustment nut and
washer from the control cable.
S Move the control cable clear of the bracket.
S Remove the top adjustment nut and washer
from the control cable.
(16) Move the cable up and rearwards through the
rubber grommets in the engine baffles.
Move the mixture cable clear of the
engine.
(17) Disconnect the throttle cable at the Injector:
S Remove the nut and washer from the
attachment bolt.
S Remove the eye end from the bolt.
S Remove the bolt and washer from the throttle
lever at the injector.
(18) Remove the eye end from the control cable:
S Loosen the lock-nut.
S Remove the eye end and lock-nut.
(19) Remove the control cable from the bracket at the
bottom of the engine:
S Remove the front adjustment nut and washer
from the outer sheath.
S Move the control cable clear of the bracket.
(20) Move the throttle cable clear of the engine.
