S Remove the bottom adjustment nut from the
Bowden cable.
S Move the Bowden cable clear of the bracket.
S Remove the top adjustment nut from the
Bowden cable.
Make a note of the cable adjustment!
(8) Pull the Bowden cable through the grommets in
the front and back air baffles.
(9) Cut the cable binders which hold the cable to the
engine mount.
(10) Remove the spiral wrap which protects the cable
aft of the engine.
(11) Remove the feed-thru from the engine side of the
firewall:
S Remove the fire resistant sealant from where
the cable goes through the firewall.
S Remove the two rivets that attach the split
shields to the firewall.
S Remove the split-shields.
S Move the two halves of the split-bush forward
and clear of the cable.
(12) Remove the knob from the fuel selector valve:
S Remove the cross-head screw from the
center of the control-knob and pull the knob
up and off the fuel selector valve.
S Remove the mounting plate.

(13) Release the engine control assembly:
S Loosen the throttle friction adjuster until the
adjuster is disconnected from the shaft.
S Remove the four cross-head screws which
attach the engine control lower-cover-plate to
the engine control assembly.
S Remove the two hex-headed bolts from the
top of the upper-cover plate.
S Lift and support the engine control assembly
clear of the center console.
Pull and hold the throttle friction
adjuster clear. Make sure you do not
pull on the control cables.
(14) Disconnect the cable wire end of the mixture
control cable from the mixture control lever in the
cockpit:
S Release the screw which holds the wire end
in the swivel fitting.
(15) Release the mixture control cable from the
support bracket at the engine control assembly in
the cockpit:
S Remove the rear adjustment nut from the
Bowden cable outer sheath.
S Pull the Bowden cable clear of the support
bracket.
S Remove the front adjusting nut from the
Bowden cable.
(16) Pull the mixture cable through the firewall from
the engine bay side and clear of the airplane.

B. Install the Mixture Bowden Cable

(1) Put the mixture Bowden cable through the
firewall.
Refer to Figure 3.
(2) Put the mixture Bowden cable through the
support bracket at the engine control assembly in
the cockpit:
S Install the front adjusting nut to the Bowden
cable outer-sheath.
S Put the mixture Bowden cable in position
through the support bracket.
S Install the rear-adjusting nut onto the Bowden
cable outer-sheath.
(3) Install the cable wire end into the swivel fitting at
the mixture control lever in the cockpit:
S Push the cable wire-end through the hole in
the swivel fitting.
S Tighten the attachment screw of the swivel
fitting.
Make sure that the wire-end goes all
the way through the swivel fitting.
(4) Install the engine control assembly:
S Do a check for loose articles.
S Move the engine control assembly into
position in the center console.
S Loosely attach the knob for the throttle friction
adjuster.
S Install the four cross head screws which
attach the lower-cover-plate to the center
console.
S Install the two hex-headed bolts which attach
the upper-cover-plate to the center console.
Specially in the center console.
Make sure all the control cables take up
the correct position.

(5) Install the knob on the fuel selector valve:
S Move the cover plate into position over the
selector valve.
S Push the selector knob onto the valve shaft.
S Install the cross-head screw which attaches
the knob to the shaft.
(6) Push the cable through the grommets in the rear
and front air baffles. Then move it to the left of
the engine between the cooling air intake, the
propeller governor and the crankcase.
(7) Install the Bowden cable to the support bracket at
the bottom of the engine:
S Install the top adjustment nut to the Bowden
cable outer sheath.
S Put the mixture Bowden cable in position in
