4. Procedure

 Subtask 57-42-21-420-052
 A. Preparation For Installation
 WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
 (1) Use a plastic spatula to remove the sealant from the component interfaces.
 (2) Clean the component interfaces and/or the adjacent area with a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-003).
 (3) Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
 Subtask 57-42-21-420-051 
R  B. Installation of the Spherical Bearings of the No. 1 Slat 
R  (1) Install the spherical bearing (1) at positions E and F as follows:
 (a) Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-013) to the mating surfaces of the spherical bearing (1) and the slat structure. Make sure that the sealant does not go onto the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (1). 
R R  (b) Install the spherical bearing (1). Make sure that the spherical bearing housing aligns correctly with the projection on the slat rib. 
R  (c) Install the new tab washer (11) and the new nut (9).
 (d) TORQUE the nut (9) to between 2.5 and 3.0 m.daN (18.43 and 22.12 lbf.ft). Make sure that you can safety the nut (9) with the tab washer (11).

 (e)
 Safety the nut (9) with the tab washer (11).

 (e)
 Safety the nut (5) with the tab washer (6).

 (f) Apply a bead of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-016) to the nut (9), the tab washer (11) and the adjacent slat structure. Make sure that the sealant does not go onto the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (1). 
R  (2) Install the spherical bearing (12) at positions E and F as follows:
 (a) Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-013) to the mating surfaces of the spherical bearing (12) and the slat structure. Make sure that the sealant does not go onto the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (12).
 (b) Install the spherical bearing (12). Make sure that the spherical bearing housing aligns correctly with the projection on the slat rib. 
R  (c) Install the new tab washer (10) and the new nut (8).
 (d) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 2.5 and 3.0 m.daN (18.43 and 22.12 lbf.ft). Make sure that you can safety the nut (8) with the tab washer (10).
 (e) Safety the nut (8) with the tab washer (10).
 (f) Apply a bead of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-016) to the nut (8), the tab washer (10) and the adjacent slat structure. Make sure that the sealant does not go onto the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (12). 
R  (3) Install the spherical bearing (7) at position D as follows:
 (a) Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-013) to the mating surfaces of the spherical bearing (7) and the slat structure. Make sure that the sealant does not go onto the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (7). 
R R  (b) Install the new spherical bearing (7). Make sure that the spherical bearing housing aligns correctly with the projection on the slat rib. 
R  (c) Install the new tab washer (6) and the new nut (5).
 (d) TORQUE the nut (5) to between 2.5 and 3.0 m.daN (18.43 and 22.12 lbf.ft). Make sure that you can safety the nut (5) with the tab washer (6).

 (f) Apply a bead of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-016) to the nut (5), the tab washer (6) and the adjacent slat structure. Make sure that the sealant does not go onto the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (7). 
R  (4) Insta the spherical bearing (4) at position B as follows:
 (a) Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-013) to the mating surfaces of the spherical bearing (4) and the slat structure. Make sure that the sealant does not go onto the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (4). 
R R  (b) Install the new spherical bearing (4). Make sure that the spherical bearing housing aligns correctly with the projection on the slat rib. 
R  (c) Install the new tab washer (3) and the new nut (2).
 (d) Install the spherical bearing (4). Make sure that the spherical bearing housing aligns correcly with projection on the slat rib.
 (e) Install the new tab washer (3) and the new nut (2).
 (f) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 2.5 and 3.0 m.daN (18.43 and 22.12 lbf.ft). Make sure that you can safety the nut (2) with the tab washer (3).
 (g) Safety the nut (2) with the tab washer (3).
