c) Move the digital micrometer up until it gives the same reading as the calibration value stamped on the side of the tool.
NOTE: This brings the pointer on the micrometer up to____ approximately 0.3 inch below the trailing edge of the elevator tab.
2) 3) d) Push the button on the micrometer to zero the micrometer reading. e) Push the elevator trailing edge full up. f) While you move the elevator trailing edge down, align the center of the right elevator trailing edge with the index mark within |0.04 inch or less.If you use the F80248-8 (alternative) rigging fixture or the TE27T-31001-( ) (alternative) rigging fixture, do the steps that follow:Set the tab rigging fixture below and along the elevator rib at the second inboard tab hinge.
NOTE: The fixture must only touch the elevator at the____ spacers. The permitted difference in thickness of the spacers is 0.005 inch.
4) Measure the X dimension which is measured perpendicular to the elevator lower surface at the tab trailing edge.
NOTE: This will be ADJ.____
5) 6) Calculate the initial tab dimension Xi from Table 504.The tab position at the second hinge, ADJ, will be adjusted to agree with the value of Xi.
EXAMPLE: Xi from Table 503 (or Table 504) is 0.320 inch_______ and the measured tab position is 0.360 inch. Therefore the tab trailing edge must be lowered by 0.04 inch.
7) While you move the elevator trailing edge down, align the center of the left elevator trailing edge with the index mark within |0.04 inch or less.
NOTE: Keep the elevators at this position while you do____ the steps to measure the elevator tab position. If the elevator position is changed, you must put the elevator trailing edge at the full up position and do this step again before you continue.
8) Do these steps again to measure the left elevator tab position.

(m) Adjust the right tab pushrods if the difference between Xi (Table 503 or Table 504) and the measured average tab position (ADJ) is more than |0.01 inch. 1) Coarse adjustment:

____ between Xi (Table 503 or Table 504) and the measured tab position (ADJ) (for the four point of the single point method) is more than |0.1 inch or you cannot get the necessary tab setting with the fine adjustment.
