Attach the elevator to the stabilizer (Fig. 403):
(a)
Put the elevator at the stabilizer trailing edge.

Install the hinge bearing bolt at the No. 1 elevator hinge: 1) Install the hinge bearing bolt with the bolt head outboard. 2) Install a washer below the bolt head, a bonding jumper,
shims inside the clevis and a washer below the nut. 3) Add shims as it is necessary.
NOTE: The gaps cannot be more than .005 inch on each side.

4) Tighten the nut to 90-125 pound-inches.
5) Align the nut with the cotter pin hole, but do not tighten
the nut more than 190 pound-inches. 6) Install the cotter pin. 7) Use the milliohmmeter to make sure there is a maximum of
0.010 ohms between the stabilizer and the elevator.Install the hinge bearing bolt at the No. 2 elevator hinge: 1) Install the hinge bearing bolt with the bolt head outboard. 2) Install a washer below the bolt head and a washer below the
nut. 3) Tighten the nut to 90-125 pound-inches. 4) Align the nut with the cotter pin hole, but do not tighten
the nut more than 190 pound-inches. 5) Install the cotter pin.Install the hinge bearings bolt at the No. 5 elevator hinge: 1) Install the hinge bearing bolt with the bolt head outboard. 2) Tighten the nut to 60-85 pound-inches. 3) Align the nut with the cotter pin hole, but do not tighten
the nut more than 140 pound-inches. 4) Install the cotter pin.Install the hinge bearing bolt at the No. 6 elevator hinge: 1) Install the hinge bearing bolt with the bolt head inboard
or outboard. 2) Install a washer below the bolt head. 3) AIRPLANES PRE-SB 51-1011;
Install a bonding jumper adjacent to the washer. 4) Install a washer below the nut. 5) Tighten the nut to 60-85 pound-inches. 6) Align the nut with the cotter pin hole, but do not tighten
the nut more than 140 pound-inches. 7) Install the cotter pin. 8) AIRPLANES POST-SB 51-1011;
Attach a bonding strap approximately 7 inches inboard of
the hinge fitting No. 6.
a) Clean the surface to give electrical bonding.
b) Use the ohmmeter to make sure the resistance of the
bonding jumper connection is less than 0.010 ohms.

c) Seal the fastener and the bonding strap end with sealant.
d) Use the milliohmmeter to make sure there is a maximum of 0.010 ohms between the stabilizer and the elevator.
e) Apply primer plus enamel or sealant to the area that is not painted on the bracket.

Remove the hoist adapter from the elevator front spar.

Install the No. 3 and No. 4 elevator hinge fitting:
(a)
Install the bearing plates with the bushings and the bolts.
