 To ensure that installation of the torque tube assembly is satisfactory, do these steps:

 (a)  
Make sure that the torque tube turns freely without roughness.

 (b)  
Make sure that there is no radial movement of the torque tube at the two bearings.

 (c)  
Make sure that vertical movement of the torque tube does not exceed 0.020 inch.

 (d)  
If the torque tube does not turn freely or if vertical movement of the torque tube is more than 0.020 inch, examine the upper and lower bearing housing installations.

 Attach the standby input rod and the aft quadrant control rod to their cranks with the bolts, washers, and nuts.

 Attach the trim and feel rod to the lower crank with the bolts, washers, and nuts.

Tighten the large nut to 50-60 pound-inches.

 CAUTION: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE LARGE NUT AFTER YOU TIGHTEN THE SMALL
_______ NUT. MOVEMENT OF THE LARGE NUT CAN CAUSE THE SMALL NUT TO COME LOOSE.
 (b)  Tighten the small nut to 12-15 pound-inches.

 Attach the vernier control rod to the center crank with the bolts, washers, and nuts.

 (a)  
Tighten the large nut to 50-65 pound-inches.

 CAUTION: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE LARGE NUT AFTER YOU TIGHTEN THE SMALL
_______ NUT. MOVEMENT OF THE LARGE NUT CAN CAUSE THE SMALL NUT TO COME LOOSE.
 (b)  Tighten the small nut to 12-15 pound-inches.
