Available with an authorization code, Trial Mode is a way to use the ABD100 Test Suite to
actually test equipment through the SW for a limited time. Again, the program is fully
functional with all tests and tables available. However, Trial is not available for any Table
once any one or more Table(s) has/have been licensed and activated. Double-click the
SWCS icon if SWCS is not already running. From the Standards Menu select License
Options to bring up the Test Suite License Activator window (Figure 2–2). Per the
instructions, the factory will need to know that a Trial is being requested, and the name,
title, company name, address, email address and telephone number, plus the Serial
Number for the library software (located with the CD sleeve and the Operation Manual
binder) and the 16-character hexadecimal number in the Authorization Request Code
section of the License Activator window. A 16-character hexadecimal number for the
Activation Code will be provided within one business day or sooner. Once the number is
received, enter it in the Activation Code portion of the License Activator window, and
click the Activate License button. (Please refer to the Appendix, Section A.3 for
instructions regarding the Transfer License button). A pop-up will appear with a
message that the activation was successful. If any other message appears, contact the

vendor. Each time the Trial Mode is activated, a notification pop-up will display the
balance remaining in the Trial period (Figure 2–3).

2.5 Running the Licensed Test Administrator from SWCS
Double-click the SWCS desktop icon if SWCS is not already running. The first screen to
appear is the user interface as described in Section 2.2. To activate the license to use
the Test Suite for the Table(s) purchased, please follow the instructions set forth in
Section 2.4, except that the factory will need to know that a License, rather than a Trial,
is being requested.
The Transfer License button is used to transfer the purchased, licensed software to a
different computer within the same company. Refer to the Appendix, Section A.3 for
instructions.
Once activated, begin with the following steps:
1. Synchronizing with the SW
On startup, the SW values are read into the SWCS program. However, during
operation if any changes are made to the SW front panel or if any errors occur,
pressing the button on the SWCS User Interface will ensure that the SWCS
program is updated to match the SW settings.
2. Preliminary Settings
As appropriate for the specific DUT, use the User Interface tabs to set the following:
• Current limit (Program Settings tab, Modify SW Output button),
• Current Protection mode (Instrument tab),
• Voltage Limit Cut Out (Instrument tab),
• Reactive Load Correction (X-load) (System tab, Load Conditions button),
• Input Signal (System tab, Input Signal button), and
• Sync Mode (System tab, Monitor Signal button).
Refer to the SW manual for detailed descriptions of these functions.
3. Selecting the Test Suite
Next, in the Standards menu, select the applicable test suite. In this case, select
ABD100, as shown in Figure 2–4, which brings up the Test Selector Interface,

2.6.1
Selecting and Running a Test Sequence
In order to select and run a test applicable to the DUT, the user will need to know,
according to the ABD0100.1.8 Standard, the following information:
􀂃 Which table will be used (Tables A through E or N),
􀂃 The number of phases (1 = single for 10AC or DC; 3 = three-phase for 30AC),
􀂃 The distance that the DUT will be placed from the power source on the aircraft, in
order to determine the voltage drop and therefore whether to test at nominal or
low voltage level,
􀂃 Which test number to use,
􀂃 The nominal frequency,
􀂃 The applicable subtest.
This information is used to determine the name(s) of the test(s) to select through the Test
Selector interface.
Understanding Test Names
The ABD100 Test Suite uses a test sequence naming convention, which adheres to an
eight-character standard, as in this example in Figure 2–6. Table 2–1 describes each
