2.6.7 Errors
Under normal operation, the Test Suite software should not generate any error messages
provided Error Checking is selected in the Options menu of the Test Executor interface.
Caution: If Error Checking is turned off (deselected in the Options Menu of the Test
Executor interface), always verify at the beginning and ending of a test that the
SmartWave is operational and the output is on. For long tests, it is recommended
that the SmartWave be checked regularly to verify the sequence is continuing to
run properly.
However, there are certain situations that can cause either an error message to occur, or
the test to not perform properly. If any test fails, that test will be displayed in red letters in
the Test Executor interface ( Figure 2–14).

Error Messages
If there is problem with the communication syntax sent to the SmartWave, an error
message similar to those shown below may occur. Typically such errors would only be
seen if the user attempts to send non-standard or modified files to the SmartWave, which
have not been validated for completeness or accuracy. If this or a similar message
occurs, check the test files for validity. If the files appear to be valid, contact the factory,
noting the exact wording of the error message, or provide a screenshot of the error.

Error Choices
To respond to the error message, there is a choice of responses:
• End all testing - stops all testing and returns to the Test Executor interface.
• Go to the next test - uploads and executes the next test (only available if more
than 1 test).
• Retry last test - reloads and executes the last test in the sequence.
Test Operation Interruption
There are several situations that can cause the SmartWave to cease running a test
sequence. Since the SWCS software only provides general error checking information,
the user needs to check the DUT or the SW for a more specific cause of the error. These
can include normal events such as the DUT causing a current limit, overvoltage,
undervoltage, DC error (caused by a DC offset occurring in the output waveform, without
properly setting the coupling to AC+DC), and ground fault (caused by the output neutral
floating above 30V). Interruption of the test sequence can also be caused by manually
switching off the output, as well as by disconnecting cables, etc.
Endless Test
There are two conditions that could cause testing to continue endlessly. One is where a
