(h) Remove the aileron and tab assembly [1] from the structure.

(3) Remove the aileron and tab assembly [1] without the sling, SPL-2042 (Figure 402).
(a) Disconnect aileron control rod [67] and bonding jumper [84].
1) At hinge 6, do these steps:
a) Remove the bolts [73] that attach the removable fairing [74] to the aileron and tab
assembly [1];
b) Remove the removable fairing [74];
c) Remove and discard the pin [77]; retain the nut [78], washer [76], bushing [75],
washer [72] and bolt [71] to disconnect the aileron control rod [67] from the aileron
and tab assembly [1];
d) Remove the nut [82] and washer [83] and disconnect the bonding jumper [84] from
the structure.
(b) Remove the radial seals and radial seal retainers to get access to the aileron hinge and
control rods connections.
1) At hinge 1, do these steps:
a) Remove the bolts [23], washers [14] radial seal retainer [24] and the radial seal
[25];
b) Remove the bolts [15], washers [14] and radial seal retainer [16];
c) Remove the nut [11] and washer [12] to disconnect the bonding jumper [13] from
the structure.
2) At hinge 2, do these steps:
a) Remove the bolts [35], washers [14], radial seal retainer [37], and radial seal [39];
b) Remove the bolts [29], washers [14], radial seal retainer [33], and radial seal [31].
3) At hinge 3, do these steps:

a) Remove the bolts [36], washers [14] radial seal retainer [38] and radial seal [40];
b) Remove the bolts [30], washers [14] radial seal retainer [34] and radial seal [32].
4) At hinge 4, do these steps:
a) Remove the bolts [86], washers [14], radial seal retainer [85] and the radial seal
[87];
b) Remove the bolts [43], washers [14], radial seal retainer [44] and the radial seal
[42];
c) Remove and discard the pins [45]; retain nuts [46], washers [47], bushings [48],
washers [49] and bolts [50] to disconnect the two tab control rods [41] from the
forward fittings.
5) At hinge 5, do these steps:
a) Remove the bolts [61], washers [14] and radial seal retainer [62];
b) Remove the bolts [52], washers [14], radial seal retainer [53] and radial seal [54].
(c) Remove the hinge seals [7] from the balance panels [5].
1) Remove the bolts [4], bolts [6], bolts [27], bolts [8] with collars [9] and balance weights
[26].
2) Remove the bolts [3] and balance weights [28].
3) Remove the hinge seals [7] from the balance panels [5].
4) Remove and discard the pins [63]; retain the nuts [64], washers [65] (under the nut), and
bolts [66] to remove the aileron and tab assembly [1] from the balance panels [5].
NOTE: The washer under the bolt is bonded to the hinge half.
(d) Hold the aileron and tab assembly [1] while you remove aileron and tab assembly [1] from
the structure.
1) At hinges 1, 2, 3 and 4, remove and discard the pins [17]; retain the nuts [18], washers
[19], bushings [20], washers [21], and bolts [22].
2) At hinge 5, remove and discard the pin [55]; retain the nut [56], washer [57], bushing
[58], washer [59], and bolt [60].
3) At hinge 6, remove and discard the pin [81]; retain the nut [80], washer [79], bushing
[68], washer [69], and bolt [70].
(e) Remove the aileron and tab assembly [1] from the structure.

(4) If it is necessary to remove the aileron balance tab [2], do this task: Aileron Balance Tab
Removal, TASK 27-11-21-000-801 or Aileron Tab Control Rods Removal,
TASK 27-11-34-000-801.
