G. Aileron Balance Panels Installation
SUBTASK 27-11-31-220-001
(1) If you install used bolts, bushings or other components that have worn areas, do this task:
Aileron Balance Panel Seals Visual Inspection, TASK 27-11-31-210-801.
SUBTASK 27-11-31-420-001
(2) Install the balance panel assembly [22], balance panel assembly [23], balance panel
assembly [24] or balance panel assembly [25]:
(a) Install the bolts [26], washers [7], washers [8], and nuts [9] to attach the balance panel
assembly [22], balance panel assembly [23], balance panel assembly [24] or balance panel
assembly [25] to the wing structure.
(b) Tighten the nuts [9] to 25-35 pound-inches (2.8-4.0 newton-meters).
NOTE: Tighten the nut [9] to the lower end of the torque range. Continue to tighten the nut
[9] until the next castellation aligns with the hole in the bolt [26].
1) Make sure the gap between the bushing face and the washer [8] under the nut [9] is
0.010 inch (0.25 millimeter) minimum after torque up.
(c) Install the pins [10].
(d) Make sure the washers [7] is bonded to the hinge half.
1) If it is necessary, bond the washers [7] to the hinge half with sealant, A00247.
(e) Install the bolts [6], washers [7], washers [8], and nuts [9] to attach the aileron balance
panel assembly [22], panel assembly [23], panel assembly [24] or panel assembly [25] to
the aileron.
(f) Tighten the nuts [9] to 25-35 pound-inches (2.8-4.0 newton-meters).
NOTE: Tighten the nut [9] to the lower end of the torque range. Continue to tighten the nut
[9] until the next castellation aligns with the hole in the bolt [6].
1) Make sure the gap between the bushing face and the washer [8] under the nut [9] is
0.010 inch (0.25 millimeter) minimum after torque up.
(g) Install the pins [10].
(h) Make sure the aerodynamic seals [15], hinge seals [20] and [29] are not damaged.
(i) Install the seal retainer [18] to the hinge seal [20] with the bolts [16] and washers [17].
(j) Attach the hinge seal [29] to the balance panel assembly [22], balance panel assembly [23],
balance panel assembly [24] or balance panel assembly [25].
(k) Install the balance weights [19] to the balance panel assembly with the bolts [4],[5],[21] and
bolts [2] with collars [3].
1) Apply primer, C00259 to the holes of the balance weights [19].
2) Apply compound, C00528 to the bolts [2],[4], [5], and [21].

3) Tighten the bolts [2],[4],[5] and [21] to 35-50 pound-inches (4.0-5.0 newton-meters).
(l) Make sure there are the same number of balance weights [11] on the new balance panel
