b) Remove the cartridge [78] from the outboard carriage [72].
c) Loosen the nut [80] on the roller [81].
d) Turn the eccentric bushing [73] until the index marks [77] are in the correct position.
e) Tighten the nut [80] on the roller [81] to 160-975 pound-inches (18.1 to 110.2 newtonmeters).
f) Install the pin [79] in the nut [80].
g) Put the cartridge [78] in its position in the outboard carriage [72].

h) Install the bolts [75] and washers [76] to attach the cartridge [78].
i) Tighten the bolts [75] to 95-110 pound-inches (10.7 to 12.4 newton-meters).
j) Install lockwire between the bolts [75].
CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE MORE THAN ONE CARTRIDGE FROM THE CARRIAGE AT A
TIME. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(b) Adjust the cartridges [78] on the inboard carriage [96]:
NOTE: Adjust the cartridges [78] one at a time. It is necessary to keep the position of the
cartridges on the inboard carriage the same as the cartridges on the outboard
carriage.
1) Remove the bolts [75] and washers [76] that attach the cartridge [78] to the inboard
carriage [96].
2) Remove the cartridge [78] from the inboard carriage [96].
3) Loosen the nut [80] on the roller [81].
4) Turn the eccentric bushing [73] until the index marks [77] are in the correct position.
5) Tighten the nut [80] to 160-975 pound-inches (18.1 to 110.2 newton-meters).
6) Install the pin [79] in the nut [80].
7) Put the cartridge [78] in its position in the inboard carriage [96].
8) Install the bolts [75] and washers [76] to attach the cartridge [78].
9) Tighten the bolts [75] to 95-110 pound-inches (10.7 to 12.4 newton-meters).
10) Install lockwire between the bolts [75].
11) Adjust the other cartridge [78] on the inboard carriage [96].

(8) Install these access panels on the wing to body fairing, do this task: Aft Wing To Body Fairing
Panel Installation, TASK 53-51-21-400-801.
(a) On the left wing, close these access panels:

(b) Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 40-unit position. To extend them, do this task: Extend
the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
(c) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.

(10) With the flaps fully extended, make sure the full surface of the spring assembly [98] on the
inboard carriage [96] touches the torque tube door [94] on the wing-to-body fairing and that it
holds the door closed.

(11) If the spring assembly [98] does not touch the torque tube door [94], or hold it closed, adjust the
position of the spring assembly [98]:
(a) Loosen the bolts [95] and bolt [97] that hold the spring assembly [98] in its position.
(b) Move the spring assembly [98] until it touches the torque tube door [94].
(c) Tighten the bolts [95] and bolt [97].

(12) Adjust the alignment of the inboard aft flap [99] with the inboard flap [71]:
(a) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
(b) Retract the flaps to the retracted position, do this task: Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps,
TASK 27-51-00-860-804.
(c) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.
(d) Measure the distance between the trailing edge of the aft flap [99] and the trailing edge of
the upper cove panel [100] on the inboard flap [71].
NOTE: Measure the distance at the outboard end of the aft flap [99].
(e) If the distance at the outboard end is not in the limit of 9.2745 ±0.0600 inches (235.57 ±1.52
millimeters), then adjust the length of the aft flap drive rod [101]:
1) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
2) Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 40-unit position. To extend them, do this task:
