E. Aileron Power Control Unit Linkage Installation
(Figure 401)
SUBTASK 27-11-14-420-002
(1) Install the linkage [1] or linkage [2]:
(a) Put the linkage [1] or linkage [2] in its position.
(b) Apply sealant, A00247 to the bolts [40].
(c) Install the bolts [40], washers [41], washer [42] and nuts [43] to connect the support
assembly [50] or [56] to the structure.
(d) For system A, do these steps;
1) Apply sealant, A00247 to the bolts [31], [44], [27] and [35].
2) Install the diagonal support [39] to the support frame [21] with bolt [31], washer [32],
washer [33] and nut [34].

3) Connect the diagonal support [39] to the structure with bolt [44], washer [45], washer
[46] and nut [47].
4) Install the hydraulic fittings with nuts [49].
5) Install the bolt [27], washer [28], washer [29], nut [30] and bolt [35], washer [36], washer
[37], nut [38] to connect the support frame [21] to the structure.
(e) For system B, do these steps;
1) Apply sealant, A00247 to the bolts [52], [71], [27] and [63], shims [67] and bushing [70].
2) Install the diagonal support [62] to the support assembly [56] bolt [52], washer [53],
washer [54] and nut [55].
3) Install the diagonal support [62] to the structure with bolt [71], washer [72], shims [67],
bushing [70], washer [69] and nut [68].
a) Install or remove the taper shim [67] as necessary to decrease the gap to 0.003 inch
(0.07 millimeter) or less, between the diagonal support [62] and teh bulkhead
support structure the diagonal support is atttached to..
4) Install the bolt [27], washer [28], washer [29], nut [30] and bolt [63], washer [64], washer
[65], nut [66] to connect the support frame [7] to the structure.
(f) Install the cable retention pins [4], washers [5] and cotter pins [6].
1) Apply a maximum preload of 35 pound-inches (4.0 newton-meters) during installation.

(2) Do this task: Aileron Power Control Unit Installation, TASK 27-11-71-400-801.

(3) Install the screws [25] and nuts [23].
(a) Make sure the gap between the screw [25] and the aileron bus drum [20] is 0.04-0.06 inch
(1.02-1.52 millimeters).
(b) Install the lockwire, G02436 with one continous twist on the two screws [25].

(4) Install the rig pin A/S-4, from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585, in the aileron bus drum.

(5) Install the rig pin A/S-3, from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585, in the right shaft of the aileron control
quadrant.

(6) For system B, install the bolt [8], washer [9], bushing [10], washer [11], and nut [12] to connect
the spring cartridge [13] to the linkage [2].

(7) Connect the cable ABSA [19] and cable ABSB [22]:
(a) Connect the cable ABSA [19] and cable ABSB [22] on the aileron bus drum [20].
1) Install the retaining plates [14] with bolts [15], washers [16], washers [17] and nuts [18].
(b) Connect the cable ABSA [19] and cable ABSB [22] at the turnbuckles [3].
(c) Tighten the turnbuckles [3] but keep the cables tension at zero.
(d) Adjust the cable ABSA [19] and cable ABSB [22]. To adjust cables ABSA and ABSB, do this
task: Aileron Cables Adjustment, TASK 27-11-00-820-801.
(e) Install turnbuckles clip locks.
