 Make sure that the gearbox assemblies are correctly installed.

 (b)
 Use a flashlight and a mirror to examine the external surfaces of the gearbox assemblies for:

 -cracks
 -corrosion
 -signs of leakage
 -satisfactory surface protection.
 (5) Examine the actuator assemblies:
 NOTE : The actuator assemblies have a rotary actuator and an offset
____ gearbox. The rotary actuator is a vented unit filled with grease. It is normal for this grease to have some oil separation. The external surfaces of the actuator assemblies may be moist with this oil as they are not a hermetically sealed unit. However, any oil separation in the unit that touches the grease will be changed back during in-service operation and the lubricant is in a condition that is stable. This is normal and will not cause damage to the unit.
 (a)
 Make sure that each actuator is correctly installed.

 (b)
 Make sure that the offset gearbox, the torque limiter, and the plug-in rotary actuator are correctly installed.

 (c)
 Use a flashlight and a mirror to examine the external surfaces of the actuators for:

 -cracks
 -corrosion
 -signs of leakage
 -satisfactory surface protection.
 (d) Make sure that the torque limiter indicator has not operated.
 (6) Examine the carriages at the track 1, 2, 3 and 4 positions:
 (a)
 Make sure that the carriages are correctly installed.

 (b)
 Use a flashlight and a mirror to examine the carriages for:

 -cracks
 -corrosion
 -satisfactory surface protection.

R  (1) Examine the Power Control Unit (PCU): 
R  (a) Make sure that the PCU is correctly installed. 
R  (b) Use a flashlight and a mirror to examine the external surfaces of 
R  the PCU for: 
R  - cracks 
R  - corrosion 
R  - signs of leakage 
R  - satisfactory surface protection. 
R  (c) Make sure that the Line Replaceable Units (LRU) are correctly 
R  installed. The LRUs are the: 
R  - two valve blocks 
R  - two inlet filters 
R  - six solenoid valves 
R  - two hydraulic motors 
R  - two Pressure-Off Brakes 
R  - Feedback Position Pick-off Unit 
R  - Instrumentation Position Pick-off Unit. 
R  (2) Examine the torque shaft assemblies: 
R  (a) Make sure that the torque shaft assemblies are correctly 
R  installed and that the spring clip safeties the pin correctly. 
R  (b) Use a flashlight and a mirror to examine the torque shafts and 
R  the input joints for: 
R  - distortion 
R  - dents 
R  - cracks 
R  - corrosion 
R  - satisfactory surface protection. 
R  (c) Make sure that the connections between the torque shafts and the 
R  input joints are tight. 
R  (d) Do an inspection of the flange bolts for corrosion protection. If 
R  the corrosion protection is unsatisfactory, apply a new layer of 
R  STORAGE PRESERVATION (Material No. 15-007).

R  (3) Examine the steady bearing assemblies: 
R  (a) Make sure that the steady bearing assemblies are correctly 
R  installed. 
R  (b) Use a flashlight and a mirror to examine the steady bearing 
R  assemblies for: 
R  - cracks 
R  - corrosion 
R  - satisfactory surface protection. 
R  (4) Examine the gearbox assemblies: 
R  NOTE : The gearbox assemblies are units filled with grease and are____ 
R  not hermetically sealed units. It is normal for this grease to 
R  have some oil separation. The external surfaces of the gearbox 
R  may be moist with this oil as it is not a sealed unit. 
R  However, any separated oil in the unit that touches the grease 
R  will be changed back during operation. The oil separation will 
R  decrease during in-service operation until the lubricant is in
