4. Procedure

R **ON A/C 001-049, 051-099, 101-149, 151-199, 201-299, 401-499,
Subtask 28-25-00-650-057-A
A. Pressure Defuel
CAUTION : DO NOT LET THE FUEL PUMPS OPERATE FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES WITH
_______ THE FAULT LIGHT ON. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FUEL PUMPS.
(1) On the panel 40VU:
-push (in) the MODE SEL P/BSW. Make sure that the MAN light of the MODE SEL P/BSW goes off (center tank pumps now in automatic control)
NOTE : You can defuel the center tank with the center tank pumps in
____
manual control.
-push (in) the applicable TK PUMPS P/BSW's. Make sure that the applicable P/BSW OFF lights go off.
(2) On the SD FUEL page, monitor the fuel quantity indications. Make sure that the applicable fuel quantity indications and the Fuel On Board (FOB) figures decrease.
NOTE : When you defuel the left wing tank only, a small quantity of
____ fuel will go in to the right wing tank. Because the cross feed valve is open, fuel can go through the grooves in the suction bypass valve.
(3) When the fuel quantity has decreased to the necessary level:
(a) On the panel 40VU:
-
release (out) the applicable TK PUMPS P/BSW's. Make sure that the related TK PUMPS P/BSW OFF lights come on
-
release (out) the MODE SEL P/BSW. Make sure that the MAN light of the MODE SEL P/BSW comes on (center tank pumps now in manual control).
(b) On the SD FUEL page, make sure that the tank contents become stable.

To defuel the wing tanks until empty:
(a)
On the panel 40VU:
(b)
Drain the remaining fuel from the tank(s) (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

To defuel the center tank until empty: CAUTION : MAKE SURE THAT A PERSON IS IN THE COCKPIT DURING A MANUAL
1_ Make sure that the MODE SEL P/BSW is released (out) and the
MAN light is on (center tank pumps are in manual control).
2_ Push (in) the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) P/BSW's.
Make sure that the applicable P/BSW OFF lights go off.
3_ Operate the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2) P/BSW's
until the applicable P/BSW FAULT light comes on.
4_ Release (out) the L TK PUMPS 1 and 2 (R TK PUMPS 1 and 2)
P/BSW's. Make sure that the applicable P/BSW OFF lights come
on and that the applicable P/BSW FAULT lights go off.
_______ FUEL TRANSFER FROM THE CENTER TANK TO THE WING TANKS. THIS PERSON MUST MONITOR THE OVERFLOW WARNING LIGHT BECAUSE THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF AT HIGH FUEL LEVEL IS OVERRIDEN DURING MANUAL TRANSFER.
(a) On the panel 40VU: 1 Push (in) the MODE SEL P/BSW. Make sure that the MAN light of
_ the MODE SEL P/BSW goes off (center tank pumps now in automatic control).
2 Push (in) the CTR TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW's. Make sure that the
_ OFF lights of the CTR TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW's go off.
3 Let the CTR TK PUMPS 1 and 2 operate until the FAULT lights of
_ the CTR TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW's come on.
4 On the ECAM lower DU, make sure that:
_ -the CTR in-line green symbol goes off
-the CTR cross-line amber symbol comes on. 5 Release (out) the CTR TK PUMPS 1 and 2 P/BSW's. Make sure that
_ the applicable OFF lights come on and that the applicable FAULT lights go off.

6_ Release (out) the MODE SEL P/BSW. Make sure that the MAN light
of the MODE SEL P/BSW comes on (center tank pumps now in
manual control).
(b) Drain the remaining fuel from the center tank (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
**ON A/C 301-399,
