R  (a) For in-service components: 
R  - the total clearance must be between 0.043 mm (0.0016 in.) and 
R  0.5 mm (0.0196 in.). If the total clearance is less than 0.043 
R  mm (0.0016 in.) or more than 0.5 mm (0.0196 in.), continue as 
R  follows: 
R  1_  Remove the side-stay assembly from the MLG at the bottom
R  cardan joint (Ref. TASK 32-11-16-000-001). 
R  2_  Measure the dimensions T and V:
R  (Ref. Fig. 403A/TASK 32-11-18-991-004-A) 
R  - T must be between 137.917 mm (5.4298 in.) and 137.957 mm 
R  (5.4313 in.) 
R  - V must be between 138.0 mm (5.4330 in.) and 138.06 mm 
R  (5.4354 in.). 
R  3_  Replace the bottom cardan bushes (Ref. CMM 321183) and/or the
R  lower cardan sub-assembly (Ref. CMM 321126) as necessary. 
R  4_  Install the side-stay assembly (Ref. TASK 32-11-16-400-001).
R  (b) For repaired or overhauled components: 
R  - the total clearance must be between 0.043 mm (0.0016 in.) and 
R  0.143 mm (0.0056 in.). If the total clearance is less than 
R  0.043 mm (0.0016 in.) or more than 0.143 mm (0.0056 in.), do 
R  Para. (a) 1 thru 4. 
R  (17) Use a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING 
R  AGENTS (Material No. 11-026) to clean the mating surfaces of the 
R  cardan joint (7), the washer (8) and the nut (9). 
R  (18) Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-047) to the mating surfaces 
R  of the cardan joint (7), the washer (8) and the nut (9). 
R  (19) Align the key slot of the locking washer (10) with the chamfered slot 
R  of the nut (9) and install the locking washer (10). Make sure that 
R  the space between the locking washer (10) and the nut (9) is full of 
R  SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-047). 
R  (20) Install the washers (10) and the bolts (11). TORQUE the bolts (11) to 
R  to 1.0 m.daN (88.49 lbf.in).

 

R  (21) Safety the bolts (11) with MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-010). 
R  (22) Use a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING 
R  AGENTS (Material No. 11-026) to clean the mating surfaces of the 
R  cardan joint (5), the washer (1) and the nut (2). 
R  (23) Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-047) to the mating surfaces 
R  of the cardan joint (5), the washer (1) and the nut (2). 
R  (24) Align the key slot of the locking washer (3) with the chamfered slot 
R  of the nut (4) and install the locking washer (3). Make sure that the 
R  space between the locking washer (3) and the nut (2) is full of 
R  SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-047). 
R  (25) Align the circlip (4) with the key slot of the locking washer (3) and 
R  the chamfered slot in the nut (2). Turn the circlip (4) (in a 
R  counterclockwise direction) until the end of the circlip (4) engages 
R  in the key slot of the locking washer (3). 
R  (26) Release the lockstay and put it in position on the side-stay (6). 
R  (27) Put the washers (12) between the attachment of the lockstay and the 
R  lugs of the center joint of the side-stay (6). 
R  (28) Install the lockstay with the pin (21), the washers (22) and (13) and 
R  the nut (15). 
R  (29) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 1.5 and 2.26 m.daN (11.06 and 16.66 
R  lbf.ft). 
R  (30) Safety the nut (15) with a new cotter pin (14). 
R  (31) Put the washers (19) between the lockspring link and the lockstay 
R  attachment lug. 
R  (32) Install the pin (20), the washer (18) and the nut (16). 
R  (33) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 0.34 and 0.508 m.daN (30.08 and 44.95 
R  lbf.in). 
R  (34) Safety the nut (19) with a new cotter pin (17). 
R  (35) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical dressings and the 
R  proximity switches. 
R  (36) Install the lockstay actuating cylinder (Ref. TASK 32-11-21-400-001).

 

R  (37) Install the lock springs (Ref. TASK 32-11-19-400-001). 
R R  (38) Do the dimensional check of the proximity sensors on the side stay (Ref. TASK 32-31-73-200-001). 
R R  (39) Do the detailed dimensional check of the MLG lockstay assembly (Ref. TASK 32-11-00-220-003).
