 Install the vertical stabilizer tip 324AT (Ref. TASK 55-34-11-400-001).

 Remove the access platform(s).

 Remove the warning notice(s).

 Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

 1. General

 The rudder main structure has a front spar, two side shells and an upper and
 a lower rib. The side shells are honeycomb constructions. The seven rudder
 attach fittings and the three actuator attach fittings are also part of the
 rudder main structure. All other components are attached to it.

 All components of the rudder main structure are made of laminations of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP). Hi-Lok fasteners connect them, but not the trailing edge. The side shells are installed to the front spar. In the area of the rudder attach fittings the side shells have cut-outs for clearance. Two rows of fasteners connect the side shells at the trailing edge. The inner row has threaded inserts and countersunk screws, the outer row has shear head rivets. Three hoisting points are bonded into each side shell.
