R R C. Adjustment of the NLG Extension/Steering Proximity Sensors 24GA (25GA) (Ref. Fig. 512/TASK 32-31-73-991-025)
R R R (1) For System 1 (24GA), if the dimension X or the dimension Z is incorrect, do the steps that follow:
(a) Make sure that the target lever (53), the sensor mounting bracket (51) and the bracket (66) are in the correct condition.
(b) Disconnect the electrical connector (60) from the proximity sensor (59).
(c) Make sure that the electrical connector (60) is in the correct condition.
(d) Put blanking caps on the applicable electrical connectors.
(e) To get the correct dimension X:
R R 1_ Use a non-metallic scraper to remove all the sealant from theitems that follow: - the screws (48) and (55) - the washers (56) and (62) - the nuts (57) and (61).
2_ Remove the nuts (57), the washers (56), the screws (55) and the target (54).
R R NOTE : You can install a sensor target without a spacer/shim____ if the correct clearance can be set without the spacer/shim.
NOTE : If installed, do not remove the shim (52) from the____ sensor mounting bracket (51).
3_ Remove the nuts (61), the washers (62), the screws (48) and the sensor mounting bracket (51).
R R 4_ If installed, carefully remove the shim (65) with a non-metallic wedge. Discard the shim.
R R R 5_ Install the templates -1 and -2 of the ADJUSTMENT TOOL(M46214) on the target lever (53) with: - the screws (55)

R R R - the washers (56) - the nuts (57).
6_ Make sure that the target lever (53) is parallel with the center-line of the leg.
7_ Put the location lug of the ADJUSTMENT TOOL in the applicable screw hole of the bracket (66).
8_ Use the templates -1 and -2 of the ADJUSTMENT TOOL to measure the dimension X. Read and write down the dimension X.
9_ If a shim is necessary, adjust the new shim (65) to get the correct dimension X +/- 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
10__ Remove the nuts (57), the washers (56), the bolts (55) and the ADJUSTMENT TOOL from the target lever (53).
R R 11__ Temporarily install the new shim (65) if necessary, with thebolts (48), the sensor mounting bracket (51), the washers (62) and the nuts (61).
12__ Measure the dimension W.
13__ Make sure that the dimension W is 9.1 mm (0.3582 in.) +/- 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
R 14__ If the dimension W is incorrect, do the steps (e) to 13 again.
R R R 15__ Remove the nuts (61), the washers (62), the sensor mountingbracket (51), if necessary the new shim (65) and the bolts (48).
